In most cases, a salesman will defer to the Fleet/Truck Manager for more information.

I'm working with our new manager to sell the remaining HCVs with the knowledge that either is available to assist the other, which means we are available to assist you.

E-250 Weight

The E-350 Vehicle before the upfit was 5353lbs
The E-250 Vehicle before the upfit was 5143lbs

If we took the upfit weight on the 350 (even though it is 2 feet longer) then we could guestimate the E-250 total upfit weight would be 5545 before driver.

You have a done wonderful job of digging up answers to a lot of questions. I am not in the market right now, but may be in the future. I just want to thank you for your efforts. I'm also wondering, how many of the E350's do you have on the lot?

I would also like to ask Jack Berry, what kind of gas mileage are you getting out of yours?

Thanks guys...informative thread!

I might drive one to the upcoming Expo in Ohio (that's if we have any left).
It's still too iffy to talk the boss into getting a booth, especially if we only have 1-2 of these Vans left at that time.
I might just have to maybe do a game plan of flyers or something and the have the vehicle parked in the parking lot.

So if I understand this right, for 3 to 4k more you could have a extended sprinter and 18 mpg that has the technology for high loads and fit 3 skids with 3.5 feet left. Seems to me what you save on fuel would be more than enough to pay for the pms with some left over. What am I missing here?

Your best bet, hire a vet! Please.

I have seen a few posts on here that a Sprinter is 50k. In the 3 months that I have been researching and pricing, a factory spec 2011 extended that gives 15.3 ft of cargo bed instead if 12 ft at 37k for an E350, with all the bells and whistles that I would want is 44k. That can be had for 41k at zero % financing at a Mercedes dealership or there are 2010 ext.out there that list at 41 or 42k that can be had a 39k. There are a lot of incentives on the 2010.

These plastic vans are 45 to 48k new. I am not understanding this.

I have had 14 fiberglass boats in the last 35 years. Once the gel coat starts to craze, and it will, then it starts to get spider cracks. Then you get water penetration and delamination of the fiberglass layers.

I'm sorry folks, but I gotta be missing something here.

depends on the actual fuel economy of the sprinter. high fuel prices and expensive oil changes levels the playing field if you can't make 25 mpg. not being an anti-diesel guy. just reporting numbers.

YEARLY MILES 100,000
as of 3-23-11

MPG FUEL USED FUEL COST fuel cost incl oil changes cpm yr
15 6666.67 $3.56 $23,733.33 $24,583.33 $0.25 20 5000 $3.90 $19,500.00 $23,200.00 $0.23 23 4347.83 $3.90 $16,956.52 $20,656.52 $0.21 25 4000 $3.90 $15,600.00 $19,300.00 $0.19

OIL CHANGES figured at dealer expenses. your costs may vary but the basline needs to be established.

gas oil changes
10 $60.00 $600.00

diesel oil changes
10 $250.00 $2,500.00

FUEL FILTER

10 $25.00
$250.00

10 $120.00
$1,200.00

also you have to factor in the 7k$ one time upfront cost for the diesel engine. all cost based on NEW purchase. i have done the best i can to edit the info. spreadsheets don't paste well in here.

Thanks Jack, it was easier to read when you hit the quote button!
Based on 100k @ 18 mpg I come up with 5555.56 gal. At what ever the rate is. Based on 15k miles oil changes, that comes out to 6.67 or 7 @ $400 (seems to be the consensus for the cost although I know some that do it them selves for $100) = $2800 + $22200 fuel at $4 per gal = $25020 or .25 per mile per year for fuel & oil changes. If I can read yours correctly, you were at .25 at $3.90. Is that right?
Thanks

Who in the h*ll is paying $250 for an oil change?

I don't even pay $200 for that in my truck and that's with synthetic oil and all filters.

And I've seen several posts here talking about rust spots on Sprinters... so what is perfect?

With decent maintenance, they should last 5 or 6 years which is the better part of the lifespan of any of these vans if your running any miles at all?

golf you change the formula when you go to 15k for oil changes. i based on 10.

25cpm for 15 and 23 cpm for 20. once again you change the formula.
