For Coyotes?

Any coyote hunters in here? I am trying to decide which bullet to go with. I THINK I have it narrowed down to two. Both from Nosler. Either the 55GR or 60GR varmint ballistic tip. I will be shooting them out of a Rock River Arms, 18" ATH, heavy match barrel with a 1:8 twist. Any input?

Sorry, I forgot to mention it is a 5.56MM rifle. These will be hand loaded, so we can fine tune the rounds.

This is the bullet I am looking at:

I seldom miss. Just want to insure a one shot, one kill ratio. Just one good, clean, smackaroo! Splatola! Wackoed Blastified. Doornailed. ETC ETC ETC! Far too many of those flea infested moon dogs running around our fair state. I am going to take it upon myself, at great expense and personal effort, to reduce their numbers.

I ' m not familiar with size ....I shoot a 220 swift loaded hot ....a flat traveling bullet that small brush doesn't effect accuracy ...site it in at 100 yards and its an inch low at 400 yards ....for in close the 12 gauge with double 00 shot ....both knock em dead .....have fun ....I love calling in the moon dogs .....

Most of my shots will be in open fields or rather open woods. 100 yards, or less. Never shot a swift. I will be hunting on my buddies property, they are overrun with them.

We can load hot, my rifles both have "Wylde" chambers, so they can handle hot 5.56MM, which can be loaded much hotter that .223Rem. I am just not sure about grain size. Whether or not 60GR is too heavy or not.

Just traded for this Romania PSL (7.62x 54) yesterday. Shooting coyotes is high on my to do list now.

I will be using a "hybrid" of the rifle linked below. The same upper on a different lower. The lower will have a JARD module 3LB, single stage trigger. The next step is shooting enough loads to find out which load the rifle will like the best.

I am really looking forward to trying to put one bullet into the last hole punched on the paper! Nothing quite like striving for perfection on the range!

With those cartridges perfection won't be achieved until ya can hit the coyotes twice before it hits the ground after a well placed first shot...lol

Ifin you are good enough you don't even have to shoot! It would just drop KNOWING you were there! LOL!

I have to talk with Paul about them when I get home. One should always turn to the experts when you can! I was going to post a spreadsheet with all the bullets I am looking at with links, the EO thing says it is an "invalid file".

See if this works

Just curious what did ya trade up?

It was one of those super trades on steroids, involved dealing with 2 people and a total of 9 guns swaping hands for me to make all of us happy. But no cash exchange hands, I might have $600 invested in it. Yes I am very pleased with myself.......

No idea on cost yet but I really like the looks of it.

Before I get in trouble for derailing your thread I just wanna say sorry..
Heres a article I read the other day that you may or may not have read..All about the scary things some of us like..

SAFE Act Proves 'Assault Weapons' Are Just Rifles by Another Name

Hey, threads are made to derail! LOL! Don't bother me none. Thanks for the link.

People with a working brain know all this "assault" rifle stuff is a sack of stuff. Only fools who are easily led or to stupid to learn the realities themselves fall for it.

I think the SKS is one of the best rifles out there.. Just seems to be put together so good.
I like the AK also but dont care for the stamped receiver that comes with most of them. Perfer the milled receiver but ya dont see many of them but still the AK is very good rifle.
Funny article states stamped has a longer life then milled and I would have thought different.

That rifle looks nice but it has one of those scary pistol grips. Has the trigger been worked or changed?

That's a good question for this rifle but if its a Chinese never suggest messing with the trigger as a few made it into the States that will do a something it shouldn't.. :D
What really scares me on it is those assault looking legs..After all they where designed to improve the rifle. Some would say only the army should have legs on their guns...lol
