And my buddy told me the recruiter told him they do. So he and I are confused as to what the real answer is.
Here's the scoop. They make you get a scale ticket. If after that your 2500 sprinter can magically carry 3000 lbs your good. I had a friend who was basically hired, when he had to get a scale ticket proving 3000 lb legal capacity the hire was off. Me thinks the recruiter might believe sprinters can haul 3000 because they already have a few there.
Thats what I was trying to say....now if mine was stripped down to like off the line new I remember my first weigh in I was like 5500 no insulation no goodies ..bare bones...

some could do the same thing, hire on bare bones and add to the van once hired on...sneaky move

yeah, as a dumb-arse rookie I scaled and Bolt said great because I could carry 4200#, 2 years later with multiple upgrades, bunks, fuel, AC, generator, tools & supplies, me and Mrs. WOM, now I can carry 2400#.

as for pricing, OVM is spot on, as usual!

now, I will share with you the magical secret to pricing that an old jewish friend told me years ago: "A fair price is the one you agree on and accept". the price is only important when compared to what you, as an individual (or team) need to run your truck. What anyone else makes has no bearing on any other person.

That Jewish person is very wise....
what I run for....per mile should have no bearing on what any other person runs for.....as long as I am happy and fulfilling my needs is all that matters.....If I run for .45 a mile is no ones business but mine...If you pass on that.70 mile load...I will take it and leave you behind...I feel no remorse, no guilt, I answer to no union nor aka association for that warm fuzzy loved huggy feeling.....

If you are running for a carrier that relies on load board bid freight (or you rely on it) the Canadian carriers have an automatic 30% advantage right now and are kicking ass. The new E manifest regulations going into Canada are now also being enforced with zero tolerance.....in addition to turning you away from the border, the fines are pretty steep....like 4 digit steep for your first offense....I think some US based outfits are just thinking it's not worth the effort to get set up for the piddly amount of Canadian freight there is.

For a Sprinter/Cargo van on Panther last I checked was .80 cents a mile, Fed Ex I heard was paying 1.05-1.25 but that was probably just a rumor.[/QUOTE]
Fedex cargo van is .80 cents for new hires. Coming from the old contract you got .85 cents. When you buy a new van or add one you're rewarded by a .05 cent cut in pay. You're put under the new contract of .80 cents. Plus FSC, weekends, NYC, inside del, hazmat and so on.

The load I'm on now is 0.06659 cents (47 miles DH FSC $3.13). The loaded was 0.06670. Not sure why mathematically they don't come out the same but the rate is (supposed) the same. Never seen it @.15. But I've only been here 3 years. When gas was really high it may have been. I'm a "B" unit.

With that said I'm sure fleet owners get more than one truck operation.
