ALL LANES CLOSED ON I-40 EAST, WEST OF ASHEVILLE

All lanes of I-40 East are currently closed at Mile Marker 17 between the Tennessee state line and Clyde. The road is expected to re-open later this morning. Motorists are advised to expect heavy delays and use caution while traveling in the area. All traffic should use the following detour route: From Tennessee follow I-81 North from the I-40/I-81 split until reaching I-26 near Johnson City, TN. Take Exit 57-A for I-26 East. Continue on I-26 East until reaching I-240 in Asheville. Take the exit for I-240 East then use Exit 8 to re-access I-40 East at Exit 53.

The closure is due to a semi that turned over I'm not thrilled with the lanes will open later today part. I hope they have a plan for us it's been over two hours now. Also hope There are no serious injuries involved. The big Tow trucks just showed up. You know it took over 40 minutes for anyone to just show up. Scary living in the sticks

Good Morning..it's so windy here the rafters are rattling...and we're supposed to get snow to match the 20 degree weather. Old man Winter just doesn't want to give it up!
