Fast food is not supposed to be a job to raise a family on. It is for an extra job, kids in high school and that type of thing.

Yep...at least that was the idea in the 70s...how times have changed heh!

I think ALL of the companies targeted should shut down for just 2 days...Sunday and Monday...then see what happens to these idiot strikers from their peers...peer to peer works best in most situations to get people back on track...
Walmart got thru it...these corporations will too...it is one thing to want something, its quite another to actually get it....these organizers running around putting pie in the sky ideas in these workers heads...

Nothing has changed. It was very bad in the '70's. I got out of the army in '73. Could not find a REAL job so I worked several at one time to make it. When that stopped working out, I moved to find work. My grandparents moved from Europe to find work. My Dad moved from PA to MI after WWII for the same reason.
There is work in many areas. It MAY take upgrading skills and likely moving. That is what responsible adults have been doing since the beginning of time. It is time people just grow up, accept responsibility for their OWN lives, and do what needs done to make it. They are not OWED a living. They have the EXACT same chances every other person has. If some can do it, so can the rest. The best "welfare" system is to not have one. Making an able bodied/minded person stand on their own two feet is the greatest gift one can give another.
Just to keep things in context McD, s made 1.27 billion in the first quarter of this year with a revenue of 6.6 billion or 1.26 per share

I guess the franchise owners would have to take that up with Mc Donalds. I dont necessarily agree with them, but I dont think we as tax payers should be carrying their health costs. On the other hand I dont want the country to become like mexico where people sometimes beyond their control end up begging for a living. In fact mexico is a perfect example. Democratic and free markets and people are starving

You missed the entire point of my comment which was in answer to another comment...lol
What i was trying to say was in the 70/80's, the idea behind the fast food jobs were to engage highschool/college/trade school students into the workforce. They would learn people skills, value of a dollar, basics of how our employment systems work, interview skills, etc. and be able to fund there own ventures like the movies, roller skating, mall shopping/hangout, etc. THEN, when out of the trade school or college, use their learned skills and education to get into a career job(of course there were those types of jobs to progress into then).
Now let us fast forward to today...we have a government that says stay home till 26, we will help you do nothing, we will stall the economy so you cant get hired and we will take care of you so no worries...we will help you rise up against corporate american even though without them we may go broke! Government is your friend, we understand you better than your parents and you are Owed nothing but high paying jobs and don't settle for less...rise up youth...this is your time! Then they put in policies to hinder the middle class and what are we left with...a $10 burger...lol
What happened to the work up the ladder and learn along the way mentality? Here's an idea...get the parents involved! Get the Government out issues they should not be involved in. Get the Unions un-involved! Working anywhere is a choice...you don't like it...get another job...it's that simple!
That was my point...lol

One thing that happened in our modern economy is we really work for a credit called the dollar. The value of which is continually decreasing while the cost of goods is increasing. All the while through technology less people are required to manufacture goods. The people that do manufacture goods require much less skill. Globalization also has to be taken into account. You cant compare todays economy to the economy of the 1970s.
