Expediter Hall of Fame Voting and awards.

The EHOF would like to get some input on who would be some of the people for the HOF. People that have made a change in the business. Would you go to a awards dinner for the EHOF? There won't be one this year as plans have already been set up for the Expo. We are working to put a team of people that has been in the business for 5 or more years to help choose people for the hall.

To be in the Hall of Fame you have to have been a driver, owner operator, truck builder, writer, web site owner, or in the Expedite business working for a expedite carrier as a employee for 10 years. We would like to also give out an award to a expedite driver or team each year that has show a positive role in the expedite business. The driver or team must have a letter sent in to the EHOF, the letter can be from a contractor, driver, or carrier.

With the blessing of Jeff Jensen wife and family we would like to name the award after Jeff Jensen. Jeff always showed a positive look on expediting. So what better way to honor Jeff than to have the Jeff Jensen driver of the year award each year at the Expo. The driver or team must be in service 70% of the year to be awarded this award and show a positive outlook on the expedite business with no preventable accidents.

Depends on how many letters we get. It will be along the same lines of of the way the NFL does it. No more than seven and no less than two. Each carrier that has more than 100 units in the expedite business will get to vote.

Naming the award after Jeff Jensen is a great idea. I also think a provision should be made for folks who are no longer with us like John O. Although he was only with us a few years he had a super positive attitude, was willing to help anyone that needed help, was always ready with a joke and good conversation and was taken from us all too soon. I'm sure there are others as well.

Why not let the expediters themselves vote. One of the major complaints about the pro football hall of fame is that there are to few voting. I believe baseball has about 500 voters.

Another complaint from the players side is they are not voted on by their peers.

any O/O- driver that is validated in person at the Expo at the registration booth would get 1 ballot with nominees printed on it...

OTM could announce the result at a later time and the actual award be done at the following Expo...this would allow recipients time to plan to get there...

The first year would be a little time consuming to validate all the voters, like about 3 extra questions or so....but once done the first time following years would be easier....

a little sideline benefit....would maybe jack up the Expo attendance a bit...

I also suggested that awhile back....IF the voters could be confirmed somehow....

Glad you reminded me about John O. Great guy Leo that is someone that had a positive look on the business. Tricia and I met John at the Expo in 2006 and John wanted to know so much about the business from everyone. He is missed dearly.

That can be done too. Can have the carrier voting and the driver voting. Online I think wouldn't work. You don't know who is voting. You can mail it in but that cost money too. The Expo would be a great place for the driver to vote and at the end of the Expo after all the votes have been counted everyone will know who is going in the Hall of Fame at the next Expo.

Those who want to vote by mail can mail in a copy of there CDL with a pre stamp envelope to have a ballot sent to them by mail. That is one way.

Voting at the expo isnt a good idea.Many of us wouldnt be able to take off work to go to the expo.Another thing.we are not all with the same carrier.THe 70% rule might be difficult,such as myself,right now Ive been off work for 6 weeks,just think what that does to your 70%.

Sure it would Steve. I also said if you can't make the Expo you can mail a copy of your CDL along with a self adressed envelope to the EHOF office in Medina, Ohio.

I don't think some folks will want to mail a copy of their CDL...To much info, out of their control.

Yes I can see what you mean. But that can still done with the DL# and SSN# blacked out.
