One of my very first runs from Brownsville to Dayton while driving through Nashville I missed the transition from 40 to 65 and was in the east suburbs of Nashville before realizing and getting back on track.

I one gave the DHS the hazmat papers and did not get them back...got to the airport just 30 minutes away luckily...handed the box to the pilot, he said where is the hazmat papers?
I can't take off without them OOPS! Back to the border crossing and try to find the officer and where he filed the papers...

One thing I learned about our big brave DHS...they'll tear ya apart looking for terrorists BUT give them a box labelled POSITIVE AIDS BLOOD SAMPLES and they have never gone near them....*LOL* Bunch of pussies...:D

On December 30 we took a load from near our home in Florida to Brownsville, TX. Delivered on December 31. Got to sit down there until January 5th. Should have stayed home and celebrated New Years.

O.K Ken , that's remind me of 2 happening .
*while delivering a more or less dedicated run into Alberta ,i once came back to the state ,and just B4 the border ,could not find my Passport . turn out i left it with all the freight paperwork back in Red Deer !. it was after they pass the law required Americans to present passport to enter the country - but B4 it took affect .got to the crossing presented my CDL for a change ,they took my 15$ toll fee ,and sent me on my way .
called the costumer ,they didn't even opened the Envelope yet ,and where VERY happy to sent it to my home address !

*when flying to PU my new truck ,i had 2 suitcases ,and a carry on bag . the truck refrigerator did not fit into the suitcases . since it had the carrying handle ,it quickly became the carry on bag . unfortunately ,i did not had the time to do so ,but i really wanted to go to a sign shop ,and decal it with red croses , and signs saying :
"Caution live human organs" .

I got St. Charles, MO and St. Charles, IL mixed up once. Luckily I had until the next morning, but it cost me a bit of extra fuel and a couple hours of sleep I was hoping to get.

Yh'a , Ohio have 2 Danville's ...

I think there are 3 Spring Hill in TN and I can't remember now what it is but I believe one state has 5 of the same name place in it. I've eaten and slept since discovering it though so can't recall it right now.

We had a dumbest moment followed by a luckiest moment

Dumbest:
2 hours into a HV reefer load Mrs. Humble looks at the dash and says "$#@%! we forgot to turn on the reefer!!"

She hit the switch real quick, then we started to discuss our next career options when . . .

Luckiest:
We noticed that the outside temp was the same as our required temp. Did a printout and the freight was at temp the entire time.

Wheww, that has not happened again.:D

When still with a co-driver, we were coming out of Canada at Detroit. As we waited in line we decided we'd use the facilities after we went thru the booth. For the first time we actually had all of the paperwork right and were told we could leave. Automatically we turned right, parked, and then realized we'd need paperwork we didn't have in order to leave the area.

Sitting in Loredo for a month is pretty dumb . . . I have to admit.

Now we didn't do this but I heard of a new team that lived near Detroit. They went to orientation and then DH'd home to wait for their first load. They got a load to Pittsburgh, delivered and went home. They got another run to Phili, delivered and went home. They got another offer and turned it down. The owner called them and said why did you turn that down? They said, because we have both been up all day waiting for a run offer and they were out of hours.

The dumbest thing I did was believe a company's lies telling me that they would get me moving and to be patient, lasting all of last summer....What was I thinking?

The best thing I did in expediting is to come to the company I am at now, I couldnt be happier...

This isn't dumb, just stupid. Was 1984,I just signed on with Roberts Express.Get a call middle of the night, want me to Dead Head from Akron Oh to Saint Mary's Pa,and take it to Detroit Mi.In my mind, all I could think about was the dead head to pick up.Shouldn't have mattered, they offered to pay all miles, and at that time, was $1.50 per mile.

Wasn't that cheap for a tractor back then?
