I was the one that got pulled over for being to close to a tractor and trailor. That is what trooper said then I told him I was not even behind a truck it was a black 2 door mid size car.And then he said well I thought it was a truck. Then he ask me what expedite was.I explained it to him and he then wanted to see all of my BOL for the week. Then he wanted to see my log book and i told him I was under 10,000 pounds that I did not need one.He made a call and found out I did not need one.I have been a over the road driver for 9 years and this is the first time Ihave ever been pulled over for anything. And yes I do have a CDL I drive a E250 ford van.I think he was just wanting to know what expedite was.He was a very young officer but he was nice about it and he thanked me for explaining expedite to him.H e just gave me a warning he said he has to write down something and I told him that I understood he has a job to do.

With CSA looming on the horizon that warned could cost you big time before it is said and done with. Right now any warning or ticket that is issued goes against you and will be grandfathered in to the new system at double the points. A warning in a few ways is worse then getting a ticket. A warning is an many points as a ticket and you cannot fight a warning.

Just to clear something up .
7. Will CSA 2010 assign safety ratings to individual CMV drivers? I heard that CSA 2010 is designed to rate CMV drivers and to put many of them out of work this summer.

No. Under CSA 2010, individual CMV drivers will not be assigned safety ratings or safety fitness determinations.

and also remember that they will go back for a number of months and use those violations against you also.

No not really, the trucks would have prepass and the vans don't.

AND who says a cargo van can't get a prepass, agpass, bestpass, etc?????????

Too many loop holes.

Heres a scenario for you.

CDL includes passenger vans as stated earlier in this thread.

Those of you with school age children, particularly Junior High and High School.
Next time you go to an away football, baseball, volleyball or any of the other after school events using a school bus to transport your kids, strike up a conversation with the driver.

If you do, you will probably find out the highway guardian of your kids clocked in around 0600 that morning. Fired up their
26,001 + school bus to run their appointed routes. Clock out around 0900.
Came back around 1400 to do the afternoon routes til 1630.
In between their morning and afternoon route maybe they ran a special ed run, or field trip to the zoo or a part-time job at some little business. Some do go home and sleep.
Then, at 1800 they pick up your precious one and go off to the match.
Somewhere around 2200 head back to the school to drop off your darlins, clock out at the bus garage around 2300, and head off to home to get , six hours of sleep, before having to start their next 12 plus hour work day.

No logs, they are required to pretrip.

Nothing to do with expediting, just a CDL loop hole, that may be of interest.

I wouldn't want to log but I've never seen the big deal about going thru a weigh station. It adds all of maybe 2 minutes to the trip.

I hate to say this ... no not really ...

I think maybe all of us straight truck and T/T owners need to start a serious petition to get vans to be included on logging and scaling. :p

that will b a lot of vans added to those weigh stations, I know the truckers will love it, but u know with a few 100 extra vans an hour added to those weigh stations, we all will be backed out on the interstate and then we can go on buy, thats what they do now with big trucks so its ok with me ,,,bring it on.:)
