Get government OUT of trucking as much as possible. They are the CAUSE of most of the problems we face. INCLUDING high fuel prices, Mexican trucks, hours of service problems etc.

NPR is a government funded "news" outlet. I trust NO government funded radio. I would NOT trust that an NPR program would bite the hand that feeds them.

Whatever you do please don't copy the call in show on Sirius' Road Dog Trucking channel where 2 drivers talk to each other. It makes me want to drive into an abutment.

The programming director responsible for giving the green light to that steaming pile of dung is obviously not being drug tested.

I agree with the rest of the comments so far and would like to see legal experts attack politicians on the show about why they feel the need to interfer and trample on driver's rights. Why do they feel the need to regulate the industry and cause others to suffer financially because of what might happen? How can they possibly hold American drivers to one standard because of safety but turn around and let drivers from another country with a horrible history of employee rights and corruption come in and do what they want?

Wearing the NPR banner, it should be obvious you've come to the wrong place.....good luck on the other forums that you join and ask.

Would the show be on the order of "Car Talk"?.
A couple of songs for you. "I'm looking at the world through a windshield", Del Reeves, "Truck Drivers Queen" ( that could be taken a couple of ways):p Moore & Napier, "Tombstone every mile" Dick Curless.

I disagree. Diane and I are regular NPR listeners as I am sure many other EO readers are too. We listen to many radio stations to get our news, information and talk show entertainment as we drive including FOX, MSNBC, BBC, CNN, CBC, Bloomberg, Road Dog and others.

It matters little to us if a radio station is partially or fully funded by a government. It is the programing that matters. If it interests us we stay tuned, if not, we move to the next channel.

I also listen/watch CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. I just have a problem with our tax dollars supporting such a lefty radio channel. I'm sure you would feel the same if your dollars were being used to fund FOX!:eek:

I listen to NPR. I don't always agree with their agenda - but I recall a great trucking story they did about 3 or 4 years ago. It was pretty accurate and I enjoyed it.

Anyway, let's keep this post on "topic". If we want continue this discussion - let's start another thread.

Thanks!

Yeah, he asked for input on several questions, and instead of getting what he asked for, he got a load of off-topic, "rude and inconsiderate" in response.

Makes me proud to call myself an expediter. <snort>

To echo Phil's statement, who funds (or sponsors) what is really irrelevant, it's the programming that matters. Some of NPR's programming is quite good, some I don't like, but I can also say the same thing about programs which are sponsored by Ford, Proctor and Gamble, and General Mills.

Re: We want your input on a radio show on truckers.

The question isn't whether NPR has any good programming or is worth listening to, it's whether tax money should fund it. It should not. It also should not fund any arts of any sort. Let advertisers and/or subscribers fund them.

About as proud as you are of so many of the other posts on this forum?? When did you ever walk away from controversy?

What the gentleman WASN'T counting on was EO acting JUST LIKE NPR by editing and censoring it's members....(think Juan Williams).

Has anyone bothered to look back at this thread and see what's been done to it?

When a Corporation sponsors programing with their own money...NPR is getting tax dollars from those that pay taxes...

As for the responses being removed from the OP...wow...
