LOL...go back and look at the very 1st NEW post....:D

I did: no punctuation, 'their' instead of 'they're', and it makes no sense whatsoever - is this a fair representation of who we are, you think?
But you think it's funny.

I guess as a trucker, how Bobs tax dollars are spent weigh on him too...:)

And I'm guessing the opportunity to improve the negative image of truckers just crashed and burned.

Now how is a comment like that supposed to foster the free exchange of ideas and information?
How can someone be so good at asking questions, yet be so bad at answering them? One simple question is all I asked, and you don't have the integrity to answer it. Sheesh.

Congrats to turtle on becoming a moderator.
I missed that announcment.
I didn't even get a memo on it.

How else could someone get the word @ss through the filters if they didn't have special privileges?
I'm smart.

Well from the looks of what just transpired with the NPR fiasco, you and others have more things to worry about than me. I would assume you and the gang will be busy putting out fires. Maybe if you ask really, really nicely, then maybe I'll tell ya.

Oh, thank you for the compliment for asking good questions. I think its one of my finer traits.

I already did ask nicely. It was a simple, benign question, and even after you replied with a series of questions rather than an answer, as nicely as I know how I stated, "OK, now that I have answered all of your questions, I would appreciate you answering mine. If you prefer to answer it in a PM, that's fine with me."

No. You asked how else could I do that if I didn't have privileges, and I answered your question. You can choose to believe it or not, but it won't change the truth.

God, I'm so confused. Again.
Not just because I don't know what NPR is, but also because the post titles are different, where did the OP go, why's everyone flapping about?

NPR - National Public Radio

It was started to offset the growing commercial radio system that many felt didn't address the needs of those who didn't want to listen to music or other entertainment.

IT is pretty much the artsy fartsy crowd type radio - reminds me of the intellectual mindset of the Algonquin Round Table group.

It is part of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting started as part of the great society in 1967 and by 1972 it was a failure.

We really don't need the CPB or NPR, it isn't that we don't have an unbalanced news or don't have Bravo on cable but rather I think that many who are involved made millions where they should have made a living being involved. Even their published history has some twists and turns which make it look like it goes beyond the intelligentsia crowd.

NPR is National Public Radio and it's funded by taxpayer dollars and donations. The taxpayer dollars part is something many people have a problem with. The OP is still in General and the off topic posts were moved here to start another thread.

I respectfully disagree with the "rude, inconsiderate and dumb" comments. Yes, normally a thread doesn't go off on a tangent until some talk on the topic has taken place. But, wasted taxpayer money is something most people get frustrated with. To many, NPR is the poster child for government waste. Politics aside, the government just has no place in this business. Let them pay their way like any other broadcast business.

If we'd called the guy nasty names and told him to get the hell outa here, that would have been rude, inconsiderate and dumb. We didn't do that.

By the way... unlike any of you who are just hammering away on NPR, I actually took the time to answer the questions he asked.

MAYBE if you all would stop complaining on how bad something is and participate by giving your thoughts to his questions, maybe NPR and CPB could justify their existence as a taxpayer funded organization by having the chance to reach out to a greater audience.

Here read my answers.

ALSO ...

Lawrence, did you split the thread?

Serious question here. Did you expect anything less?

This is of your making, own it. For you to be so appalled at what kind of reception a person from all places, NPR(are you kidding me), would be treated here is quite hilarious.

Yes, I did expect more - otherwise I wouldn't have made this new thread.

Sounds like you have a burr under that saddle cowboy. What's up?

You're one of those glass half full people, me to, I respect that.

Last time I checked, nope.

Actually, I think you might want to ask that question to those that responded to your NPR journalist in the manner they did. Again, I am the least of your worries.
