Well after 5 days and $800 I am finally out of the dealer and back on the road made a dead run to the TA north of Atlanta hoping for a good load tomorrow. The traffic between Lexington and Knoxville sucked traffic jams due to 2 separate wrecks and 1 pot hole patching crew.

Picked up on Muncie, In to Newcomers Town, OH. About 250 miles with a 18 mile deadhead. Hope I get lucky and snag another load or two this week.

What happened to the 14th? It's in youre blood, isnt it?

woke up and started the van and it started making a God awful noise, popped the hood to find the vacuum pump that i replaced 4 months ago,38,992 miles ago, was coming apart, throwing aluminum shavings everywhere.Found the pump at o'reilleys, started it up to get it, and it shredded the serpentine belt...made it to the truckstop behind Wal-Mart and had them replace it and the belt.So much for oem parts..all is good now. That truckstop may be a dive, but 50 bucks an hour labor, and a little creative communication between us, and i am happy.I've always had them do work on my trucks, with no problems afterwards.

There is a weather window from the 5th to the 10th so far...
forecast for tomorrow:
Windy with occasional snow showers. Very cold. Wind chills approaching -20F. High 8F. Winds NNW at 20 to 30 mph.

If that pump went already..OEM? Must have had a factory defect? No way that should have torn up..IMO

Good thing it happened right there and not somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Glad you are back in business.

And get this-the warranty on that $287.00 oem vacuum pump was good for only 12 months/12,000 miles! So we'll see what this o'reilley pump does, along with the gates belt.Got to looking at it after that, and saw red dust coming from the belt tensioner, so I got one from Autozone for $70.00. I noticed the round body that has the spring inside is much smaller than the Ford one I pulled off,but everything else was the same.I noticed it turns over alot faster now when starting. And then I noticed the battery under the hood has dampness coming from the vent covers, so that is getting replaced tomarrow.I changed the one under the van a few months ago.I figure it is alot easier to change this stuff in the nice warm weather than in the snow.I think this should be it, except for the alignment it needs, but that'll get done in detroit, at certified alignment. After that, all should be good.put 2 coats of high-gloss polyurethane on the van floor as well, waxed it, etc..

Still in Laredo, met alot of nice people who have been here for awile, enjoying the weather.I'd rather sit here waiting for a load than up north!

I have to admit, Load One dispatch has been awesome in communicating with me that they are looking and all.Real nice and sincere people.Makes the waiting more tolerable and relaxing.

Hope it continues into January!!
