Spent the first night in the van with the Espar on....To say it works great is an understatement.13 degrees out last night, and I am turning this thing down twice last night.eventually had the thermostat set at 1/4 from the lowest setting, and it was somewhat comfy, a tad on the warm side. This was heating the whole 12' box and cab, uninsulated.

Dad was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon while I was gone.It seems that the heart defurberator, or whatever you call that thing, is going bad, the battery in it.So it jolts you to let you know it is time to change the battery. But, the jolt can mean several other things, also. So, a jolt means a visit to the hospital regardless. He's alright, for the most part.1st night since I've been home we havent had a few,B.S'd, and watched movies together.Times like these I cherish, as we never know what hand of cards we will be dealt with next.Live each day to the fullest.

Ken, ever see the movie better off dead, where the father of the house gets up early in the morning to raise the garage door so the newspaper boy doesnt throw the newspaper through the windows in the garage door? And, for once, it worked, and when it did, he yells out loud, "I BEAT YOU !!!!! "....I wonder if a particular person does this in the AM if he gets up before you call him......lol...Just a thought, buddy!!! lmao....

Going to make sure Dad is okay and everything at the house is done before heading back out.

Thanks, everyone.Yea, he always enjoys when I put him through on our conference calls at night. He often asks how Ken, or Cuz, Mike, etc is doing, where theyre at...He is a wealth of 44 years OTR knowledge, and still remembers so much of where places are, exit numbers, etc..amazing.He keeps up to date on what is going on in the trucking world, and cant believe how things are changing, how little sense the new rules make, etc, saying he is glad he got out of it when he did.He laughs at the advertisements for drivers, and the rates being offered, showing me how much he got paid per mile as a true O/O, own authority. The rates back in his day were through the roof! And the sad part of it is, the cost of ownership was so much more less than now, it is amazing.44 years OTR, running old school, mostly on 4 hours of sleep a day, and not one accident during the whole time.As a teenager, when he'd come home, I was washing the truck, polishing the aluminum, changing the oil, filters, greasing and adjusting the brakes while he slept so it and he was ready to go back out on Monday.I learned so much from him in my early years, irreplaceable knowledge. Thanks, Dad!

Dropped off in Buffalo Grove, IL a day early BAM! :D
Paid as dispatch said "A boat load". But it did get me wondering why did it pay so much? No real rush, delivered a day early, 1000 pounds on 1 skid. Would have fit on almost any unit. I'm sure there are lots of factors, some I can guess, and many I'm sure I couldn't. "Why ask why?" seems to bounce in my head, but my curious nature is overrode by "Things that make you go Hmmmm"

Van went in the shop first thing this morning. When I left they were removing the front clip so the engine could be removed. Should have it back late next week.
