Death by DeSantis

Some info:
Trump up 4 over Biden.

Trump up 26 points over DeSantis.

Trump has a populist working class coalition supporting him.($ 50 thousand income or less) He leads with them by a mile over his competition. The only category he doesn’t lead is with those making over $250 thousand.

The “Trump or bust” vote currently sits at around 10 to 14%. That’s those that “say” they will only vote for Trump and no one else. It’s approximately over 7 million votes. ( Leftists clapping)

The economy has several bubbles that are beginning to, about to, and most likely will burst within the next year and a half before the election. So financial conditions will only get worse. The Fed has decided to try to save the banks by putting the skids on raising interest rates substantially.
That means that high inflation is here to stay, with some saying it may go higher.
Layoffs and unemployment.

Biden’s approval is cratering at 38%.
Along with that is his diminishing cognitive decline. A year and a half from now before the next election when we decide who to elect as president, it is very likely that economic conditions will be much worse, if not dire, and Biden’s mental faculties will diminish much further.
Couple that with V.P. Harris’s tremendous unpopularity and it is a likely Trump presidency.

I’m old enough to remember when some were criticizing Trump for not holding rallies.

Strategy Suggestion: Get DeSantis Charged With Some Crimes and Have Him Slam People More

Republicans seem to like that kind of stuff in their candidates.

The above is offered tongue-in-cheek. On a serious note, some commentators are wondering when DeSantis and other Republicans who are seeking the nomination for president will actually start campaigning against the Republican front runner instead of tiptoeing around Trump's base. There is more than enough material to eviscerate Trump, but no Republican candidate or likely candidate has shown the spine to use it.

All the pundits, pro and anti-Trump have been saying this NY indictment will seal the nomination for him before the primary gets into high gear. He'll be in the news every day, sucking all the oxygen out of the coverage and generating a sympathy vote that no other candidate can match.

The other candidates are smart to keep their powder dry until the fireworks in NYC are over next week and the indictment is unsealed and analyzed. If it turns out to be BS, they can unify against the Democrat party's political persecution. If it actually has some substance, they may want to ask the voters if they want to live with this constant judicial turmoil through 2028. Either way, even if he gets convicted Trump comes out on top.

You do realize the Democrat leadership are just giving him free air time....and even someone of the Democrat voters are starting to think it is a bit much....#walkaway

Never head of the book they are talking about, but I may have to read it......
This is an opinion piece by a liberal author in a liberal publication. We should expect similar hit pieces about any Republicans that the Democrats consider to be a strong candidate for POTUS in 2024 or beyond. The content bears no relation to the DeSantis book The Courage To Be Free, which was on the Amazon best seller list for several weeks. I read it shortly after it came out and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about DeSantis, his background, and his governing principles.

Another Reason DeSantis is Slipping

A couple weeks ago (or so), I asked above why DeSantis's standing in the polls plummeted compared to Trump's. That was before Trump was indicted. Some ideas were floated and I concluded that the primary reason for DeSantis's decline was that Trump's vicious attacks against DeSantis were effective.

Now, with the general population in mind, not just Republican primary voters, a new poll mentioned below suggests an additional reason to believe DeSantis may not get further in the presidential race than he is now, even if he declares his candidacy. Quite simply, DeSantis is out of step with the voters. Those in the ultra conservative Republican echo chamber may like what DeSantis is saying, but they like Trump more. And in the general election, there are not enough ultra conservatives to carry the day.

"The new survey shows that more Americans oppose than favor seven out of eight signature policies put forward by DeSantis in Florida, with support ranging from 36% (for requiring public school books to be reviewed for content “the government deems inappropriate”) to a low of 21% (for “granting political appointees the power to fire tenured faculty members at public colleges and universities at any time and for any reason”)." (Source)

This is a genuine surprise to me. Months ago, several times, I said DeSantis is smarter than Trump, and for that reason will run circles around Trump when the two go head to head. But so far, Trump has crushed DeSantis and DeSantis has not responded even with a whimper. His bold public statements and actions make no difference in his polling among Republicans, and the more he promotes them, the more distant he grows from the general electorate.

The phony indictment against Trump gave him a big boost in the polls. Some have him tripling-up DeSantis with his lead.

DeSantis Now Pro-Tax, Pro-Tolls

Out-foxed by Disney, and embarrassed to have the Disney chapter in his book and a key stump speech element rendered obsolete by Disney's pro move (vs. DeSantis' rookie mistake -- thinking he won before he won), DeSantis is now scrambling to save face and saying he is open to raising taxes and establishing new tolls.
