Re: Councilwoman to gang rapists: "What do you need from society to make better choic
Yes, and the 6th commandment prohibits murder, not killing.
You are correct.
there are 4 ways of ending a person life, according to the tradition.
the translation of the word 'murder' do not do justice to the original term.
while, as you stated, am NOT an expert on this subjects, i MIGHT be able to help others understand the shear difference between, the New Testament & the Old Bible, in regards to ending someones life. it can get very complicated @ times, but since we talk religious here, we will have to agree to disagree.
in a nutshell, the old bible is FULL with very graphic descriptions of ending someones life, most of which cannot be tolerated in a modern society. pick most of ANY story from the bible, and see how our current rules cannot be applied. you lost me with the OP. sorry. i simply did not understands the connection to the NT {or the old one for that matters} with current affairs.
to answer one more question.
according to Jewish tradition, there are 613 Mitzvots. that governed a person life.
there are other category's that govern a none Jewish person.
the 613 Mitzvots have 2main category's: you shell do, and you shell not do.
there are other sub category's:
Mitzvot's that are location connected,
Mitvot's that are God connected.
Mitzvot's that are time connected.
lets start with what MIGHT be a concern:
the expectation of NONE Jewish person lives outside of the location {the holly land}, and time.
those are governed by the '7 Mitvot's of sons of Noah'. those are the 'to do & not to do' that might be a part of the Original Post.
the definition of "you shell not murder"{so to speak}, have a different meaning then the one presented in the 6th commandment.
there's a rezone for that.
the none Jewish peoples cannot be expected to 'not end someones life' for the same rezone as a Jewish person dose.
a none Jewish person {or a modern society} do not expected to be ruled by the 10 commandments, but by the '7 mitzvots of sons of Noah' which only apply to a none Jewish.
there for the "allowance" to end someones life is more 'tolerated'.
