Im not trying to be a deadbeat dad, but I need to know if anyone has any experience dealing with child support? How do they calculate how much to take out. Do they go by your gross? Can they take money out of your settlements?
How would visitation be set up if im otr 2-3 Weeks or more at a time?Dont steal, the government hates competition. ~Ron Paul~

When me and wife split for first time they tried ordering like 15% of my monthly bring home. Wife and I worked out our difference so it never made it to court.

When on the road you are typically entitle to have child when you are in.

Not knowing where you live, the laws of each state are different. IN Ohio the support was mandated by the court, after a consoultation between me and the ex wife. The amount was required to be deducted from my taxable income and was required to be sent to the court, (by the entity you earned the money from), who in turn passed it on to the custodial parent.

Visitation should be something you work out with the ex during the proceedings. Knowing you are not always home, a more flexible arragenment should be negotitated.

Monty....TAXABLE income?......would that be the same as Gross Adjusted Income? which in our world is the pretty much the taxable income....

Luckily I dont have the child support problem but, I have family members in that sittuation they work hard and dont have enough to live on. Your support payment is addustable but you usualy have get an attorney, go to court, explain why you need to have it adjusted, and maby they will lower it but only if THE COURT finds it acceptable. You may be able to work out an arrangement betwene you and your ex just make sure it is done with lawyers your own to protect your rights and hers and submit it to the court a mutual agrement is easier than a contested. No its not right that you dont have enough to live on after paying but there are so many clowns out there making babbies and making tracks that they will see you as a deadbeat rather than an honest man.
Ive found it to be ironic that they will revoke your licence if you dont pay even though you drive for a living.

Good luck

136 weekly payments and I'm done! I'm seeing the light!

Today is my daughters 18th birthday.......
I'm so glad that this is my last child support payment.
Month after month, year after year, those payments!

I called my baby girl to come over to my house, and when she got there, I said to her, "Baby girl, I want you to take this last check over to your Mama's house; You tell her that this is the last check she's ever going to get from me, then I want you to come back here and tell me the expression she had on her face."

So my baby girl took the check over to her. I was so anxious to hear what the ex had to say and how she took it.

As my baby girl walked through the door, I said, "Well now .. what did she have to say?"

"She told me to tell you that you ain't my Daddy."

Look on the bright side, it is only 4,732 days or 113,568 hours or 6,814,080 minutes. Start the count down.

Must be a slow day, too much number crunching going on haha.
I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse lol

Well, for me .. I never once flinched over those child support payments. They are my children, and I was obligated ...... if times were rough, I just dug a little deeper.

I also provided them with healthcare coverage, and supplied many of their school supplies, and somehow I felt it still was not enough. So I added to it.

i'll be done in december of this year when my son graduates [ from college ]. i threw that in there just so you all dont really think it ends at 18. it does, provided your ex other half doesnt decide to petition the court for [ non minor educational expenses ]. yes, there is such a thing and the courts in almost all states do recognize it. providing there is no previous history, like older siblings that you were not petitioned to pay for. the courts wont usually allow for one if the custodial parent has not petitioned for the older siblings. just fyi if anyone didnt know this bit of info.
