I told the sales guy which is going to the expo that he needs to have one tagged at 10k to sell in this market. There primary focus is on the home delivery market i.e. fedex home delivery.

I can understand their target market. Hopefully the company is willing and flexible enough to work with expediters.

Both the single and dullay are built on the 159" wheel base...

Finally! All of the GM SRW cube vans I have seen are built on the short wheelbase. 159" wheelbase would match up well with a 14' box.

I personally would prefer 12' of cargo space saving a little extra weight. Now if we could get GM to lop off 2 cylinders on the Duramax....

If the will Tag the single wheel unit at 10,000 gvw,(60mph is right, I know we use to be able to have the body builders do it back in the 80-99 wheni sold lt chevy trucks) id be very interested, but not at 10,500....i'd get a cube van....

Too bad the Baby Max engine program got shelved Moot, while it was still a V8, at 4.5L it was a lot smaller and lighter.

I was hoping to hear that there was 16 feet available for load space (same as a long Sprinter) then you can do 3 skids and have a nice sealed off bunk.

That is THE one reason i keep looking at a unicell cube like the one everyones favorite "Preacher" built....unicell will built that in a 15 ft box, i have the quote...not sure if they could be pushed to a 16 ft'er....

You can get the Unicell with up to a 17' box. With the 17' box you have 16' 1" usable behind the seats with the seats all the way back. That has always appealed to me as a 3 skids plus dedicated sleeper available option. If you keep the standard driving area roof that makes a shelf in the 'sleeper' area that is rated for up to 200#. That should easily hold lightweight plastic boxes loaded with clothes, plasticware, cereals, chips etc. that aren't super heavy. It sounds like the CargoMaxx may not take over as much of the Sprinter market as it may have originally seemed.

[QUOTEIt has 14' of cargo space has a door height of 71.2" if I remeber correctly and it is made out of fiberglass with a steel insert, comes in at something like 7300 curb weight.[/QUOTE]

Weight was the problem the Rev had on his 14'. He could only hall 2500#.

Ok, here is the E-mail from Teer meeks at Cargomaxx, the dual rear wheel truck is out of the question for me because it is on the 12,300 gvw RV chassis, but the single is rated at 9990 gvw...

Chef,
Been out for the holiday with family and just arrived back into the office. Thanks for the e-mail and request for more info on the cargo maxx. We are using the 3500 chevy dual wheel chassis, 159" which is rated at 12,300 GVWR and changing tire size to derate the chassis for Single rear wheel to 9,990 GVWR. There are other modifications which take place but this should give you more information . Both units will have a cargo volume of 610 cubic ft. with the weight carrying capacity of the DRW at 5,100 and the SRW at 3,400. The inside cargo height of both is 83.4 inches, with 14 ft. in length and 74.72 width at belt line and 52.7 width at wheel housings. Wheelbase on both is 159"

I would be happy to assist you in any way. You can call me

Chef, I got the same e-mail from Terry. This is an interesting vehicle and the GVWR of 9990 makes for a good expedite van. I requested more info, specs and pics from Terry.

His comment about changing tire size to de-rate the chassis confused me. I like the 159" wheelbase and the 3400# cargo capacity should equate to about 2600# real world capacity. i would prefer 12' of cargo space and swing doors. But all in all this could be a decent alternative to a cube van or Sprinter.

I am glad to see they dropped the GVW down to 9900 in the single rear wheel model. Did he give you the door height or just the inside height?? I remember him tell me the opening was only 71.2" high. I was told that the SRW had a curb of 7300# but if they are clamming a capacity 3400# then that means it must have a curb weight of 6500#. Oh well the lighter the better:D

I questioned the #3400 payload and he needed to get an exact scale slip to know the exact curb weight. He said the inside measurement with the door rolled UP, was about 80 inches. As for swingout doors, he said the 1st ones being built are all rollups that is what FedEx wants, but he thinks they will offer swings later..Oh and side doors are an option,,,that i like...He is getting somemore specs together for me but i sure would have liked to see 16 foot of inside length since they are using cutaway chaasis....And to be honest, under 3000 lbs in payload does not impress me, but ill wait till he gets an exact number..i can see this truck working, if it can all be brought together....

You all know it doesn't matter how you change the tire around. What matters is the what the door tag says. It has to say under 10,000.

absolutely correct, and since it is an "incomplete vehicle" when shipped to the"final stage manufacturer", that is who puts the gvwr tag on the door....the single wheel will be yagged at 9990 gvw.....

I am thinking about getting into expediting. I like this unit and would like to know where is a good place to get something like this leased or financed? Any help would be appreciated.

Aerocell don't come that way. The plate put on as the factory is what they use. Example; CW IS 9600, AEROCELL 14" IS 12500 ECT

oncedrove you can get a chevy/gmc and now even a ford cutaway with a GVW of 10,000 from the factory with a 159" wheel base (which is need for the 14 and 15' models) You will just have to do research to get the chassis model #'s to give to the box maker. You are correct about aerocell they will not take the outside wheels of of a dually chassis so you can not get a 14' SRW, but why not just get a 15' with a dually 10,000GVW chassis. The unit will be more stable and you will pick-up more width if you go with the flat floor option.

Yeap, i have a quote in my e-mail now for both a diesel and a gas motor in a single rear wheel 9990 gvw with e-track. There is a disclaimer asking that i not share the pricing info so i won't post the prices simple because mr meeks seems like a good guy...but it is fair to say i will be looking closer at a hi-cbue 10,000 gvw unicell with a 15-16 ft box..........:(

It don't sound like they really want to sell any real bad. Personally I think Aerocell is the best value, compared to other hi-cubes.
