Holy cow Deville! I never knew I was lucky doing most of my work in Manhattan, but I guess I was. Glad to be away from the city, though, no offense.

It's always odd, that surprised tone you get from a broker on the phone when you "inform" them at the 61 minute mark that you will "keep the detention clock ticking" since there's no resolution yet.
I regularly give away a few/some minutes here and there, for good PR, but this one is just silly.
I may be here at the consignee until morning just because whoever booked this shipment (international) didn't note the AWB# in the order or on the paperwork. 10 hours detention?!?! What a waste that would be. And I'm booked on a load to GA in the morning that this better not screw up!!

Our record for detention time was 65 hours. And we were three hours early. The receiver went home early on a Friday so we had to wait until Monday a.m. The Landstar agent that we did the run for was very upset because he personally confirmed the delivery with the owner of the company. He charged them for all the hours and paid us accordingly.

We had a driver attempt a Sat delivery to a closed factory. When the factory owner was told the cost of a weekend worth of reefer detention he said he'd get someone to open the place.
Soon a Town Car shows up with the owner's wife, kids, and dogs.
She forgot the factory keys.
Our driver took the freight off the pallet and loaded it into her trunk.
Hopefully it fit into the home freezer.

Now that's a stand up broker
