OK, enough is enough! Dispatch, I'll pay you to get me out of here. Men should not be involved in packing for a move, PERIOD! This morning SHE is working in the kitchen and SHE was wrapping Pot Holders. They are made of cloth, they are flexible, they don't need wrapping!!! OH, when will I ever learn??

Took my new tires on an overnight shortie to Ypsilanti, then from Warren to Lexington, Ky. Now at the J in Waddy.

Van had a rumble that I thought was my old tires. New tires made it quieter but rumble is still there. I had a Ford dealership check it out yesterday morning. He said it needs a left rear wheel bearing. The price? $2000 :eek::eek: Apparently, the fix is to replace the axle shaft! Not only that, they assume that both sides need done :confused:

I paid the place $125 for an hour of diagnostic time and got the fork out of there :mad: I have a call into my regular mechanic for advice; should know something tomorrow.

Do you ever check your differential fluid levels? If your rear bearings are out, you might have leaky seals. Do you smell the smell of gear oil when you look under or around your rear tires? Getting work done on the rear end can be really expensive. When was the last time you replaced your differential fluid? I used to do it every fifty thousand miles. A lot of drivers never pay attention to their rear end and that can lead to very expensive repairs. I hope you get a good second opinion on what's going on. Also, be careful as those rear bearings heat up and get hot, your entire wheel can come off when you're driving down the road.

I neither see nor smell gear oil. It has been a long time since the rear was serviced I admit. :(

I also don't hear the chunk-a-chunk noise one usually hears when a bearing is failing. No howl from the pumpkin, etc. Just a rumble that frankly sounds like nothing worse than a brand new set of aggressive snows, before they settle in.

Call me :confused::confused::confused:
