Using this time to get some repairs done on the van. The Limp Home Mode issue turned out to be a split intercooler hose (that big one on top). The somewhat stiff steering turned out to be a failing power steering pump that's not circulating the fluid with very much pressure at all. Ordered a pump (and the high pressure line, might as well at 440,000 miles) from Europarts. Should be here Monday or Tuesday.

I think many simply do not understand the cost/risk/reward of all of this. They sell them on the "independent" mindset. Amway for trucking.

What gets me is that alot of the "freight rate *****" carriers require their o/o's to have primary insurance, at real dirtbag rates.Another thing that leaves me shaking my head at...lol..

Most of theses carriers do shift the insurance cost to the owner operator. Most of them work out of the house. They have no sales team and just underbid load boards. Then they factor the money, get paid right away and pay the owner operator up to two months later (as we have read numerous times in EO). Not sure what anyone sees as better with that set up. Except for the low bidding no coat carrier making money of theses guys and hurting revenue for the real carriers and their units.

Yes, and what gets me also is the o/o's who are leased to several of these kind of carriers at once, who all bid off of the same load board. So, in the end, by the o/o doing business this way, thinking he will be kept more busy than usual,he is selling himself out to the lowest bidder on the available load.

Before I forget, have a happy Easter, John!

Unloaded in Lordstown yesterday morning, slept, then Frankie got me a nice load from Cleveland to Chicago.A nice, relaxed run.Enjoyed the scenery and sunset along the way, cruise set at 65.Unloaded 6 hours early, did several 19's to see what is around me, ended up being #8 in Chicago, so moved to a undisclosed location, where I am #1 waiting for a load.Beautiful, cool weather here.Awesome!

Something I like to hear. I was in the shipping office waiting on paperwork to sign. One shipping clerk was on the phone setting up more orders with a carrier. In the background, I could hear the theme song from "The Adams Family".

Shadow stopped here on his way north and we invaded the MickeyD's next door. He told me about the "jungle" he hauled yesterday. Didn't know that could be done.

I think I've finally found someone that has worse luck than mine.
