I know it seems to be insane. I swear that it is real (unless I have been duped by a very credible source), and was brought up at their last meeting.

I agree about not believing everything you read, I wish some others have heard about this.

It has not been implemented, I was told they sent this out as a feeler to see if their OO's liked the idea.

The person who sent the Email asked me to start this thread to get a feeling of how OO's would respond to it.

I hope to get permission to say who sent this.

I still ask, Please respond how would you feel if your carrier did this?

I am hoping that the responses will get them to reconsider it.

If it's real, the originator doesn't use grammar check and spell check. He/she misuses there for their. That happens if you sometimes are in a hurry. Gives me pause, though, as to its being an original document. Coming from a group of 82 small carriers you would think the originator would go over the document before sending it to you.

I'm sure it's some kind of joke... BUT if it's not.. Then I would think it's a hell of a way to make sure all your drivers are going for the top 6% instead of 5%.. A way to kill intensives to be the best.

What I'm trying to figure out is if an association of 82 carriers were doing this why would they pass it to one driver to put out on a free website? You think they would do a scietific survey or get a focus group of drivers together on the topic. I raising the B.S. flag. Get your hip wadders on, it's getting deep in here ladies and gents.

Do you not see any hypocrisy there? How can you be against this when it is exactly what you espouse all the time in the soapbox? One or the other has to be a falsehood. Are you against this and your soapbox stuff is falsehoods or are you really for this but don't want to say so outside the soapbox? You can't separate the two decisions as they are directly related and one affects the other.

OK, for argument's sake, let's say a carrier tried to implement this sort of thing. Top 5% gets penalized 10% so that money can go to the bottom 5%, and the middle 90% being left alone. Breech of contract would be charged, the top 5% would sue for unfair business practices and restraint of trade, and win, and significant punitive damages would almost certainly be set by a judge. Consequential damages are also likely, bringing tort law into the mix. Why would a carrier, much less 82 of them, with at least one of them being semi-intelligent, do that?

I promise you, it's a load of crap.

i think it is unfair for any carrier to do this and wont think about it much till more proof is provided. i know my carrier will not do this, not a member. as far as the breach of contract, just remember that almost if not all carrier lease agreements have that little statement in them that goes, we reserve the rite to change or amend the lease agreement at anytime. sometimes with or without notice. ofcourse we dont have to sign the amendment. i would think that this would cause the 82 to lose alot of their trucks and the ones who are not members to gain some. could put some of the members out of business. as for me as stated, i am 100% against this nor would i lease to a company that practices the share the load mentality.

No doubt at all Dave....this is nagging my memory...seems long ago there was some anti tax email that had a simular spin to it....just can;t nail it down...I feel like I;ve read some version of this before.... It IS a hoax....

It is probably a hoax, BUT, I really do not see ANY difference between this program and Barry's. IN FACT, I would think that Barry would applaud this as corporate responsibilty. Barry would go on to say that if ALL employers, reguardless of size, would follow the lead of this company then the government would NOT have be FORCED to step in and take over more than 1/3 of the economy to provide health care for the minority of the country that does not have it. I would think that you would agree that Barry and this carrier have it correct Doug. I would think that you would be PROUD to take part in this. It fits your beliefs to a tee. IN FACT, the amounts being talked about in that email would be far LESS than what the government will take from you. I really DO NOT understand your problem with this. Good luck with it!!

HAHAHA---

Express Way owner Rod runs the company with a sense of humor.

That Email was to me from one of the owners of Express Way (I left their name out so as not to hurt their reputation), I guess some on here are in cahoots with him on this very good prank on me.

Nice Job all!!

The fact you guys who did this got Rod involved was brilliant. I would have dissed this as a prank immmediately, but with the owner backing it, well I bought it dammmmit! He argued the Emails position well on the phone last night.

A bow to those involved----and watch your back.

Rocks to those who never miss a chance to rag on Doug for expecting the government to actually be "of, by, and for the people" - and the framers of the Constitution took great pains to include ALL the people under the umbrella, not just the ones with money and/or power.

We know this is a joke now but it kills me that prior to learning it was a joke you were still beating this drum. How can it be right if the government does it and wrong if your employer does it? You and others may not like what I say but at least I hold one position whether it's my employer or my government. Common sense.

Because the government is not and was never intended to be a profitable commercial enterprise.
You and others may not like what I say but at least I hold one position whether it's my employer or my government. Common sense.

As the two have entirely different structures and goals, expecting them to behave in the same way is hardly common sense, IMO.
