Do you not see any hypocrisy there? How can you be against this when it is exactly what you espouse all the time in the soapbox? One or the other has to be a falsehood. Are you against this and your soapbox stuff is falsehoods or are you really for this but don't want to say so outside the soapbox? You can't separate the two decisions as they are directly related and one affects the other.

Leo it makes perfect sense to me liberals want other people to pay for the programs that they want. They almost always seem to think it’s a bad idea if they are the one that has to pay for it.

I only read a couple of posts and skimmed the rest, as this is so obviously a load of crap. I know that I'd be out the door immediately at the mere suggestion of such a thing, and I think many others would too. Why would a carrier risk their credibility by suggesting such a thing?

Wonder if the folks at GM and Chrysler felt this way too and if so, just how long did that work for THEM? If it can happen to auto companies, it can happen to anyone, us included.

This thread is not about government tax policy.

Perhaps not TAX policy but as I've noted above, government policies CAN AND WILL interfere with your livelihood and there's NOTHING that you can do to stop it.

It is about a company taking from some to give to another.

Now, I agree with LDB on this one. Your attitude is hypocritical. Not to worry, my comment is nothing personal toward YOU but to the leftie in general who is always willing to give OTHER PEOPLE'S money but not so fast to give out of their own pocket.

The email being a hoax does not take the fact away that far too many go through this life espousing the need for an "all for one and one for all" attitude, whether it be in their own company or, more commonly, in their government....until it shows up ON THEIR FRONT PORCH....then the attitudes begin to "adjust".

We know this is a joke now but it kills me that prior to learning it was a joke you were still beating this drum. How can it be right if the government does it and wrong if your employer does it? You and others may not like what I say but at least I hold one position whether it's my employer or my government. Common sense.

This E-mail was received from a nameless small carrier. I am just looking for thoughts from other OO/drivers from carriers to see what they think of it.

He asked for thoughts. The title of the thread is: "Any thoughts on this?" No mention of warm fuzzy thoughts only.

When I read Doug's original post and responded, I thought it was he that was the perpetrator of the hoax. I figured he was trying to yank somebody's airlines.

Doug and I exchanged pm's and he certainly was mystified by the e-mail. Especially the fact that it appeared to have come from one of the owners of his carrier.

So now we all know it was a hoax or a joke but I believe the original intent was to make a point about sharing the wealth. A real-time parable that we participated in.

That sounds stupid some carriers already do that in the form of "Average Income" they get a printout every morning with income from all classes of trucks and dispatch from the bottom to spread the money around....indeed punishing the hard working truck that moves to good areas and stays alert.....
this isn't needed...

My old carrier did....and there is no reason to believe in the slow times it doesn't happen to some degree....

"The guy" came in and posted a supposed change in business that reeks of the Obama socialism we are all being forced to accept and wanted our feedback. To top it off he was totally against it when he spends tons of time telling us how Obama is right, Obama is great, Obama is doing the right thing etc. but now that the exact thing Obama calls for is coming to his wallet he doesn't like it. I participated in what he asked for and pointed out the hypocrisy of his position.
