Any good expediting companys in MN?

Diane and I are Minnesota residents of many years. When we researched expediting, we found no expediting carriers headquarted there. We run with FedEx Custom Critical. We've never had a hard time getting freight out of Minnesota - mostly the Twin Cities or Rochester, sometimes deadheading to Wisconsin to pick up a load. We get freight TO Minnesota less often...a few times a year.
Thanks ATeam for the heads up on MN, do guys know anything about BJ transport? I live not too far from them. It's going to be about year until I have to makeup my mind on expediting business. My plan is to get my CDL get and some experince on somebody's else truck. Also what's the average amount of money(monthly) people are making on their Sprinter vans. My only truck driving experince was with the Army driving 2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks. I'm coming from mechanical engineering background.

I too am based out of Minnesota, and offten have to deadhead back. Seems there is a lot going out for us, none coming in. I work with a small company based out of saint paul for now. When I leave, or sign my truck (I am driving theirs) they might be looking for another company driver. I'll keep ya posted.

As expediter wannabees, Diane and I conducted a number of informational interviewes with industry players (recruiters, drivers, fleet owners). We were surprised by how generous most of them were with their time. We'd be pleased to return the favor to the industry by making ourselves available to you when we're home; though that is not that often.
Keep reading the EO Open Forum. It's the best source on line for expediting info. I suggest you read every post in every conference going back one year. It will take you a while to do so, but if you do, you will be that much better informed when you conduct your informational interviews. The better informed you are, the better questions you will ask, and the more beneficial your interviews will be.

I'm sitting at a burger king eating breakfast on Route 66 in IL right now. I'll be home the 31st (maybe, working on a residental move quote) and the 1st (for sure) I call Gibbon Minnesota home but I am offten in the Minneapolis area. When money calls I don't want to be 2 hours away from it.
Volacity is a joke, after they fee you to death that 48% won't fill the tank. I remember calling them about a run they had from Minneapolis to Saint Cloud and back. Roughly 125 miles round trip. They where paying 66.75 a trip. When I laughed he said he had a higher paying route from Minneapolis to Alexandira that paid 850 a week. With all the extra stops it was a all day afair and it needed a cube van. I don't know how they find drivers.
Twin Modal was not looking for o/o or company drivers last time I talked with them. My job will probably be opening up soon. I am thinking about changing to all types and signing my van and straight truck. Gotta do some research on them first. The recuter made it sound to good if you know what I mean. If I sign my van will need a driver.
If you want to go after your CDL and I can work it in you can borrow my truck to take the test. It'll cost you lunch (and in a year, I might try to stuff you in it after you pass) it's a 33,000 GVW with air brakes. Just what you need to take the test in.
well, the french toast sticks are gone. I guess it's back to playing truck driver in the snow.

Add one more to the list MN HOT FR8TERS. I call Emmaville home, half way between Park Rapids and Lake George. I run with Express-1. I have had a hard time getting out of Mpls/St Paul lately. We seem to have plenty of freight coming into MN.
I am all for a lunch or breakfast sometime. We should try and coordinate it.

Same here, beats waiting around for the phone to ring although it did finely ring last night. Ran a hazmat load to Duluth Minnesota from Saint Paul. Not very far, about 150 miles but we know how to charge for hazmat The load was so large two vans had to haul it. It was radio active and the bar rating was to high for one van..
Gotta love the glow in the dark runs... hey, why is my hair falling out?!??!

It's a small local gig called Western Delivery. We do a lot of intown stuff, hauling mainly medical stuff from the air ports and canceled checks to the large banks in the cities (hey, 10 pounds of checks is worth on average 10,000,000 bucks!) thankfully the contract is writen in such a way so we are only liable for the value of the paper never lost a check yet though.
We get a lot of van out of town runs when GE's machines go down at hospitals, also deliver a lot of large electronic items up to 500 miles away. Back when it was -40 in the dakotas I ran 5 million bucks worth of super computer out to washington.. It was ONE create. Truck loved the weather (almost gelled, brakes almost froze on) but I made it
before the bottom fell out of business (slow season I guess) I'd run 1500-2500 miles a week. Like others have said, there is a lot of freight coming in, not a lot going out. (wonder where all that stuff is collecting...)
