Remer, MN here. Get-together sounds great but there's so many of us we would affect the market if we all shut down at once!
Any good expediting companys in MN?

why not do it with company? And if it did have a effect on frieght, I would think the net result would be a higher offer.. hey, maybe we should do lunch more offten?
Glad to see I am not the only one that is up at 4 something in the morning EO time.. Been doing local 15-100 mile runs all night. It's movie shuffle night (taking them from first run theathers to the buck theaters.. look for "Are we there yet?" at your favorite buck theater later today).
As a added bonus I landed 2 D runs to chicago this weekend! Leave later today (good thing I was in a cargo van all night..) back tomorrow night, then off again Sunday morning back Monday night. Things are starting to pickup again I guess and not a moment to soon, I was getting near the bottom of the wallet.

Hey merkurfan, still from Gibbon? I used to deal with the may-wes company there until wes's passing on. Used to be a good barber in gibbon too!
Sometime this summer, the financial institution that is financing our truck plans to feature us and the truck in it's newsletter. They have offered us use of their conference room for a reception or event of some sort relative to the truck. The lending officers there tell me they are frequently asked for truck loans but seldom give them because those asking dont' have business plans worthy of a loan.
I can think of nothing they'd like better than a gathering of Minnesota expediters to which they can present their story and develop relationships for possible future business. They would also likely speak about business planning and what loan officers look for when considering owner/operator loans.
We could combine that one-hour meeting with a tour of our new truck - maybe even a mini (driver-to-driver) expediter truck show in the parking lot - eats, and get-to-know-you time.
There is a fair chance we could get a reporter to attend. The expediting story is one not frequently told in the mainstream press. A business writer from the Star Tribune or Pioneer Press might go for it. Location will be Burnsville if we did this.

Count me in. How about a "tailgate" party?
OK. Let's take it a step at a time. First we need to get the new truck on the road. Then we'll talk to the lenders to see exactly what they plan to do with the newsletter and when, and what kind of event they're open to at their facility.
If that does not work out for what we're talking about here, Diane and I will be hosting an open house for family and friends to show off our new truck and renew old connections. We will likely use a hotel parking lot and banquet room in the Twin Cities for that. We could easily set up a business event...an expediter meet and greet in conjunction with that, on the day before or after our friends or family event.
