I really don't think anybody is going to extend terms to a total stranger.
Then you'd be thinking incorrectly, Rags.
Bought our first truck this very same way, using the last $500 to our name on a $34k purchase, financed (our name on title, his as lienholder) over 12 months. Paid off in 5 months, 27 days. Posted an ad in EO classifieds looking for owner finance, after being prodded by another EO member.
Was it the smart thing to do? Probably not.
Did it turn out well? Yes.
Was I scared? Somewhat. VERY shaky credit, and few other options, other than continue driving for the owner we were driving for.
Difference might be that I have mechanical knowledge, and was anxious to not make mistakes I made in previous, failed businesses.
That quickly-paid-for truck made us a lot of money, and dug us out of a huge hole. Our path was not for the faint of heart. Our seller-financiers thought we were smoking meth. We're just hard workers, and our carrier takes good care of us.
