Well then if that is the case how do you explain the gay community who takes up less than 2% of the population, but are trying to tell the rest of the population that they have to accept their ways.
It's not the gay community telling the rest of us we have to "accept their ways", it's a very large percentage of the population [including heterosexuals, like me], saying it's wrong to deny gay people the same rights as everyone else.
It's wrong to teach kids that gays [or queers, as they're often called by those who believe themselves superior] are immoral, perverse, or wrong, so that those kids become the adolescents and young adults who engage in 'gay bashing' for fun. I mean literally bashing: looking for those who 'appear gay' to beat up.
It's wrong to refuse to serve a customer one believes is gay, because "my religion doesn't support homosexuality", or to rent lodgings, offer employment, or issue a legal marriage license, based upon religious beliefs.
All of those things were accepted, as long as gay people hid their sexuality from view, and everyone could believe they didn't actually know any gay people. The gay people were too afraid of the repercussions to speak up. They're not anymore, and a lot of former homophobes are just amazed to learn that someone they admire, or even love, is one of
those people. [Dick Cheney!]
Those people are just like the rest of us, [except for their sex lives, which, being between consenting adults, are none of our business] and it's past time we accept that.
