Finally, someone speaks well of public school teachers!

Yeah, that's almost as absurd as a truck driver telling us what life is like. What?!?
An actor telling us what life is like.

I don't, either, but that's not my point. What someone does for a job doesn't really give them any special insight into, or preclude them from knowing, what life is like, be they a truck driver, an actor, a donut maker, an auto mechanic, or an assembly line worker.I don't see any truck drivers here.

The federal government and unions, the two worst things you can have involved in any endeavor, and both are involved in education. The iPad won't do flash so I haven't heard what Damon says but can imagine. Tenure should be abolished. Kids should be le behind. education is an opportunity and a benefit. Kids that don't appreciate it should be left behind and all resources focused on those who work for it.
If the parents dont care, the kids will get left behind without guidance, IMHO.
Well I'm not kidding - matt keep your mouth shut.
It don't matter what his mom did or who she did, what matters is our school system is in a wreck and people in third world nations are doing better in the jobs our kids should have no issues with.
Try to find someone who can count change for a purchase and see what happens. Is it a problem with parents who are not involved with their kids or is it a problem where the teachers not teaching the right things.
The biggest issue is a lack of accountability and a lack of local control - both issues are in part caused by tenure and unions.
IF educating our kids are as important as many make it out as, why does the union fight charter schools and school vouchers?
