IMO...Socialized medicine won't work down here......too much politics, lobby groups, interest groups and it would be just one big muddle puck right from the beginning...

If not this, something will. It will be sooner than latter.
It will be the end of the Constitution if the individual mandate is upheld. That will give the Federal Government 100% control of EVERYTHING that we buy. Which means, they will have 100% control over EVERY aspect of our lives.
The very idea that the Federal Government has the 'right' or authority to use FORCE of any kind to require a PRIVATE CITIZEN to purchase or not purchase ANYTHING is HORRIFYING.
We might very well see, 'neighbor against neighbor', 'father against son' and 'brother against brother' again, in the very near future.
When the government trumps the Constitution. It is over. The United States of America will no longer exist. What happen then will not be good. Millions will likely die as a result.
We can only hope and pray that what will rise from the ashes will be stronger and greater than what we have become.

Yeah......Limbaugh and FoxNews keep telling me if the individual mandate is upheld, Congress then can require us all to eat broccoli.
I for one am a big fan of broccoli.
Being that Obama's claim that the government can do this is based on the commerce clause, Rush might be right.
IF the government is given the authority to control commerce on an individual basis, which is EXACTLY what their argument is, there is NOTHING that they can or cannot force us to buy or not buy.
It is a line that should NOT be crossed. It will shred the Constitution if upheld.

Too bad you could not comment on the ideas in play. I must therefor assume that you believe that the Federal Government has the authority under the Constitution to FORCE private citizens to purchase an item? If so, do you believe that is good?
Can I also believe that you are willing to be controlled, ruled by the Federal government? If so, why?
I must also assume that you must believe that the Federal Government can use what ever force that they deem right to enforce this, or any mandate that involves commerce?

It's not wrong because it doesn't work; socialized medicine doesn't work because it's wrong. It's wrong legally, morally, and ethically. It has never worked anywhere, and never will.
Then again, I have heard it said that there are two places: haven, where the human nature factor doesn't apply, and hell, where they already have it.

Socialism works only for the weak of mind and soul. There is little difference between someone who wants cared for by the government and someone looking for a 'sugar daddy or mommy'. NO PRIDE. Succeed, or fail, on your own. Anything less is wasting the brain God gave you.
I have to disagree...coming from the Great White North....the difference being..WE wanted it....WE like it....Its OURS and it WORKS just fine....
Yeah, that's why those "Snow Birds" flock down here all the time, in large numbers, when their live's are on the line and they can't wait out the waiting period.
because most have the money and can't wait.....no other reason....IF were really life threatening they'd have the care....AND in some cases they are sent down here all expenses paid....so there.

Unless you have the consent of every person whose money was confiscated to pay your bills, it's theft.
And out doesn't work, as has been demonstrated. And even if you tweaked it somehow so it appeared to be working, it would still be based on theft, so it would still be wrong.
