A little sanity, at long last!

Yeah, what the hell, since one stupidity is legal let's make all stupidities legal. That's some real sanity there alright.

The stupidity is in a system that imprisons people and ruins their lives for a private behavior that causes harm to no one else. Unlike, say, alcohol, where those who imbibe can subsequently kill people by driving, [and they do, with horrifying regularity], and never see the inside of a cell.
Marijuana is not a recreational drug that compels users to embark on a crime spree to pay for it, because people can grow their own. And they do, legal or not.
There is no sane reason for it to be illegal, particularly when compared to the destruction of America's number 1 drug: alcohol. Prohibition was an excellent lesson in the stupidity of laws that a great many people ignore: otherwise law abiding citizens become criminals, while the real criminals profit.
A lot like criminalizing gun ownership.

Having pot legalized will only change things for the better because we will deal a major blow to drug cartels and street gangs.
It'll also save billions of dollars wasted in enforcing a stupid law.

Better be careful, sounding a bit like a big brother liberal there.
A big brother liberal and a big brother conservative are not quite the same.

The thing that they do both share in common however, is that they are both authoritarians ... ;)

Yeah, they will transfer those dollars to enforcing the tax evaders, just like with booze and cigarettes. It will save some, but it will not be a one to one savings.

I know some are looking at putting tracking devices on cigarettes to bust tax evaders. We STILL have moonshiners and revenuers running around. It will improve some, but much of the crime will just shift to another arena. After all, we have NO intention of getting rid of the BATFE OR the DEA.

Will smoking a joint be legal when driving a big rig or van? Do any of you drive for companies that do drug testing at random intervals...be careful in your postings, you may get a call.... your rolling papers please--lol

I think more will indulge, now that they don't have to risk doing a drug deal.
It's approved. It's legal. I don't have to go see some scary guy.
Once they're hooked, they MAY turn to crime.

Most potheads the people that only smoke weed are normally not really committing many crimes other than pot related ones. That is my own tiny bit of experience lol. Others may vary

Most pot dealers are far from scary and the deals don't happen in dark back alleys. A lot of pot dealers are just people looking to pay for their own supply so they are typically friends selling to friends or friends of friends.

That's the way it was when I was in HIGH school.

Except for two guys smoking dope in the smoking area of the Petro in Spokane a few months ago, I haven't been in the presence of pot in over 20 years.
No family members use it. No friends in my presence. .

Yeah. Quit drinking and live a pretty mundane life.

But I'm happy sober, so all is good.

Never saw Reefer Madness.
Did witness two friends get really messed up on Heroin.
Another, life consumed by crack. Didn't live til 35.
Had a friend cowering in my bedroom cause her house got shot up over a deal gone bad. Not sure the drug of choice in the deal. Doesn't really matter.

If Pot is a gateway drug, we don't need it.
If not, I'm cool.
I don't know anyone that started on Heroin.
