With the initial efficiency plus what can be done with Heartthrob exhausts, tuners and intakes combining with long term maintenance costs I think I'd rather have the Ecoboost engine than the diesel.

I forgot to also include "and the probably $5k-$8k lower purchase price than diesel" to my list of thoughts.

Just think about it... An e350 diesel 35k. My best guess. 45-50 k
E-350 doesn't have the diesel option anymore, or their vans for that matter, since the introduction of the 6.7 Ford diesel. that is why body outfitters are using the F-450 and 550 for their airport busses, ambulance, etc, to still be able to offer a diesel in what they put on a Ford chassis. But, they still will make the Ford E-350 cutaway chassis. At Taylor Ford They have a new 350 for 32k.Ironically, a Spartan body 12' srw Ford is about the same price.

U can get a sprinter for 40k

Ken, to be honest, haven't looked at Sprinter prices lately. I am nor interested in the diesel guzzling, def injecting NCV3. I love the T1N. Last time I looked it was around 47k.

Hmm.. a turbocharged 5 cyl diesel.. sound vaguely familiar LOL..

Power sounds decent.

Dale

How does that compare to the 5 cylinder Sprinter? The Ecoboost 6 cylinder puts out 365 H.P. and 420 lbs.-ft. of torque.

You think they'd put the 6.7 Powerstroke diesel in there. I realize they're generally not as well regarded as the Duramax diesel, but seems like the 6.7 (used in Ford pickups) would be more appropriate muscle for a vehicle the size of the new Transit, no?
G.M. had to redesign the front of the GMC/Chevrolet van to accommodate the Duramax. It still wouldn't fit with the Allison transmission so they castrated the Duramax to mate it with the standard Hydra-Matic 4 speed O.D.

I would like to see G.M. lop off 2 cylinders on the Duramax. That would make for a very nice diesel motor for expediting. A little lighter weight and probably a bit easier on fuel.

I lifted this from the linked article: The new Power Stroke will be the only five-cylinder diesel engine available in a van produced for North America. The 3.2-liter option will offer eight vehicles total rated at 40 mpg or higher. This number is more than double today's total and more than any other automaker according to the press release. The underlined sentence reads a bit odd, what I think it is referring to is the fleet average for all models with the 3.2 option. That could include the different sizes and GVRWs and also the Connect, etc. I can't believe the T-350 could get anywhere near 40 mpg. 40 kilometers, yes, but not 40 miles.

Moot you getting one?
A 5 cylinder Sprinter or a Transit?

The Transit looks to be a viable option to the Sprinter. It will be interesting to see what models are available with the initial launch next year. Will a T-350 long and tall be available then or another year down the road?

The guy I talked with at Boyer Ford in Minneapolis said there are several large national fleets interested in the Transit. I'm sure they get first dibs on what rolls off the assembly line. Could even see some of these fleets running Transits this summer. I remember about a year prior to International's debut of the 9600 series, Ruan was testing a few in Fingerhut's fleet in St. Cloud, MN. Definitely an eye catcher at the time!

I'll take one lwb med roof to go please.

That'd certainly be the best one to get for expediting, I agree 100%.

Unfortunately, looks like the med roof may only come on the short wb, and the high roof comes only on the long wb, in either standard or extended length.

At least that's what I get from the image.

I don't know for sure. I think maybe it's the lwb with very little rear overhang. That's what I'd hope for anyway. Maybe they'll release more info soon that will tell.

There is a version with 14' behind seats and it will be available with all three roof heights.
