20 states have filed petitions to secede

I sadly shake my head in disbelief. I served this Nation for 23 active and 7 on Retainer. Now retired as of May 31. If you people don't want to be here then Leave.
I never herd or read somthing more selfish and anti American as what I just have.
In France I was spit on and told American pig go home when all the BS was going down in Iraq while I was Intranset with a team. My own Country, States and People signing Petions to leave this great Nation The United States of America. Each and everyone ought to be ashamed of them selves that want this. I bet many that want this never served this country or went in harms way. A good 90% of our Politicians never served in the militray None of the running Canadates that got the Voted President from their Perspective parties did. How about this for the next President and Vice President thats elected maybe it ought to be a mandate for them to have served 4 years active duty Enlisted Min to become Commander and Chief in other words for you CIVILLIANS President. Everyone that wants to succeed from the United States Of America please Leave and dont let the door hit you in the (YOU KNOW WHERE).

Secession is never going to be allowed by the Federal government. Never. And they dare not put it to a vote.

What is more likely is a breakaway movement which doesn't seek permission from our masters in Washington, it justs happens suddenly in a fortuitous moment of national crisis. Much like the astonishing breakup of the Soviet Union. The central government becomes so weak and handicapped it can no longer hold itself together.

Think this a radical concept? Then our Foundining Fathers must have been radicals, too. Our Founders led a breakaway movement which divorced the colonies from Mother England. Someday, perhaps in the lifetime of many EO readers, a future flag flying over Washington, DC will be several stars short of 50. Many see this as an inevitable outcome when power is stripped from the individual and consolidated unto itself by an insatiable central government.

I agree and think that would be the case with all states. Obama won the Electoral College vote and the popular vote. Even Red States would be hard pressed to find enough kooks to carry a majority on a secession vote. For those who are that unhappy with the recent presidential election results, I say recede, not secede. Mexico and Cuba are due south.

Keep chuckling, Northern Dude. This is the same condescension which led to one tragic split. Two predictions: (1) secession will never be placed on a ballot. (2) The United States will not always remain as currently configured.

Two things:

- I think it is pretty cool that the whitehouse.gov site has this feature for people to start and publicize petitions. It's a 1st amendment right of all Americans.
- I think it is also pretty cool--and somewhat hilarious--that people can start a petition there about petitions.

There are 11,697 signatures on the petition to Deport Everyone That Signed A Petition To Withdraw Their State From The United States Of America.

I think I'll start a petition to exile anyone who puts out a petition to take the citizenship from anyone who puts out a petition to secede from the Union

The problem is the combined minorities have become the majority and they don't vote on critical issues but on single , self serving issues . Obama was elected because blacks voted for him because he was black . Labor union members and Jews always vote for whatever Democratic candidate is running . Then you have the Prochoice women and gays .
I admit conservatives are just as bad making abortion and same sex marriage key issues .Voters are too self centered with little concern regarding the welfare of the nation .

Well, yeah, no balls for it happening next week or something, but balls have a way of getting bigger over time. It starts off small, like refusing federal money with which to be coerced, refusing to accept certain mandates, throwing tea into a bay, occupying Wall Street.

Instead of "never gonna happen," perhaps a more appropriate prognostication would be "not gonna happen in the near future, but nearly inevitable that it eventually will."

When the youth eventually lose faith with government, then change happens. Old folks won't take to the streets. When our younger generation realizes what has been done to them in the name of government, by the Federal government, it will be a time of profound revolution. That doesn't mean a return to reasonable government is in any way certain.

Hard to say if or when it may happen. If one were to use the back order dates on some types of ammo being pushed all the way to August of next year and back order and build dates for many rifles being pushed out to 12-18 months due to heavy back logs and orders, things MAY be moving along faster than some would believe.

It does not take the entire country to stand up, just a small, dedicated minority can get things rolling.

Clearly, our government is sick. Terminally ill, even. Our federal government is analagous to a Stage 3 cancer patient in complete denial and refusing treatment. Birth, growth, maturity, decline and death. Nations and governments have a life cycle, too.

Consider another population group besides the country's youth. As of 2010 California's population was 38% Hispanic and 43% speak a language other than English at home. At its current growth rate it should be over 50% before too long. Under Gov Moonbeam's new tax plan the state treasury soon should be even more broke than it is now, maybe even to the point of bouncing paychecks and pension payouts. Suppose the majority of CA's population decides it would be better off as part of Mexico, and take to the streets demanding such action. Mexifornia anyone?

Many of us were concerned about the 'collapse' of the old Soviet Union. It was something that most in the intell agencies did NOT want to see happen. The concern was loss of control of their nukes. The ideal WOULD have been a Soviet Union that did NOT rule by murder and terror that still controlled the nukes. The collapse was not a good thing in my book.
