    Spend a day......

Flying J 8484 Alleghany Rd Corfu, NY 14036 Indian Reservation 5 miles east. Cheap cigarettes and Fuel (If you are not fuel tax egulated) Food is excellent, there is a separate smoking area (in case you are a smoker) The P.A. system is a little loud and I'm not sure how many times you can...

    Allstate Express

Went to work for them last December. Newly minted Class B CDL. They put me in a new truck without even a test drive. The safety guy said "I know you are going to lie on your logbook, it's the only way to make it out there; Just remember that if you get caught, you get fired." I sat for 3 days...

    Inaccurate Mileage

Usually the carriers pay based on the route that they figure. (PC Miler?) It's called Practical Miles. Some use the old Mover's guide and others go zip code to zip code. Whatever works for them. A few questions; do you follow the directions given on the QC? Do you use a GPS or a map to trip...

25 gallon shower credit at Pilot

I asked about this at several pilots, seems you still have to get 50 gal. but if you can show your reciepts for 50 gallons in the same week, they will give you a shower. Fact is that unless the fuel desk operator is in a bad mood, or a shower nazi, you can usually ask for a shower and explain...

    how do you stay awake?

When I went to "Pumpkin School" aka Shneider Trick Driving Academy, they taught us that a correct Power Nap is 1 hour, anymore gets you groggy, any less is ineffective. Most carriers figure your driving time at 40 to 45 MPH. that should leave plenty of time for a nap. I do have a great gospel...

How do you decide what loads to accept?

I think you better look at that example again, it's 85 Cents a mile. Brooklyn would be great, I used to be a firefighter there. Lotsa friends to visit, shower, eat, etc.

How do you decide what loads to accept?

I agree. That's why I created the calculator. I can look at what I actually make on a trip. Although, It seems that as I get more choosy (SP?, I seem to make less money. Maybe there is something to just keeping moving and hoping to get a few big loads. Seems like I made more in Dec. and Jan...

How do you decide what loads to accept?

It's a working spreadsheet. If I cut and paste it, it won't work. at 100%, according to the calc, you net $77. at 65%, you net $67.

How do you decide what loads to accept?

OK, the info was an example so that you can use the calculator. I have made some corrections and I hope that you will find them helpful. The corrections are attached.

IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to park!!

RE: IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to par I've used Idleair. It's great. Now I have a cargo van. Can't get an adapter to fit the window and the tube is about 3" too short. In my situation, if it's too hot/cold/miserable and I need to idle for 10+ hours, I find getting a room more cost...

Actually, they are for sale. Want one? www.gsaauctions.com Most of them are pretty well trashed and will take a few thousand dollars to make them usable again. The ones that they are keeping for future disasters are kept in TX, WV and GA. there are a few thousand of the best ones.
