    Hammock

Been a hammock guy for 10 years. Works very well for me. I installed a ring to a pillar just behind the driver's seat and an eye-bolt right by the rear doors (diagonal across the van). 10.5' cargo bed. You'll need some rope on each end so things hang properly. Lots of resources online for...

    Ahahahahhaa

Oddly enough, I was at a pickup a couple years ago in Wisconsin, and an older gentleman in a Transit Connect pulled up. He was grabbing a single skid bound for Laredo. Probably not a 48" or over 500#, though I have no idea what those little Connects measure between the wheels. He said he...

    Over 70 Cargo Vans

No surprise there. I've found Atlanta to be hit-or-miss for vans lately.

    National Parks

US-441 through the Smokey Mountains has "no commercial vehicles" signs. Snuck across at dawn last year, because I like the scenery. But I'd never risk it in a straight. Park cop might not notice my mid-height Transit (at a glance could be an RV), but they'd be all over a truck. Didn't see...

    Haul of Fame

Man, I never get anything fun. Took a hydraulic pump from Louisville -> Tioga, ND and arrived the oil fields area around midnight the next day. Address was a basic pole barn outside of town and a pickup with three burly guys met me there, manhandled that 200# skid into their pickup truck...

    Tim Horton’s Closing

Probably just the local franchisee having financial problems. You'll see a place that does solid business go under, and later find out the owner was losing money at other businesses and couldn't find a buyer for his one profitable restaurant in time. My home town had an Old Country Buffet like...

    Ford Ceases F-150 Production

I delivered to that Magnesium place a couple of times. They say there was a small fire, set off the sprinklers. Water reacts with Magnesium to release Hydrogen gas... last thing you need in a fire situation. Alloys of magnesium don't do this, obviously.

    Detroit area cluster f¿ck

Once upon a time... there was no 696. 8 mile was how many people got E-W across the burbs back then. 10 mile isn't too bad either. If you're further north, take Metro Parkway/Big Beaver (16 mile) to I-75.

Place you felt the least safe in

Didn't much like the Flying J off I-20 in Dallas. Been to a few sketchy Walmarts here and there, but mostly noise -- kids blasting rap music at 2AM or with loud pipes. The WM in Alsip, IL is about as rough as I'll typically stay at, but it's in a prime location in SW Chicagoland.

Warning Watch the potholes in Michigan!

Drove Mound Road (Warren/Sterling Heights) headed to a PU the other day -- total bone-shaker. Big chunks of concrete missing. Saw some chump with skinny tires on his car sidelined with a flat tire. Price you pay for being trendy!

    For Chevy van fans.

Can't JUST make an Express taller. Needs Euro-style rear doors and slab sides. Saw some after-market mods that looked promising -- basically cut away the van body halfway up and added a fiberglass topper + extended height doors. Place in North Carolina did them, I think. Fit and finish on...

    November Locations or Vacations

Enjoying the hospitality of a motel in North Charleston, SC while annoying noises are remedied -- both rear bearing assemblies + brake pads + rotors all around (2015 Transit, 158K). Looks like I'm off-line until later 11/28. At least it's 60's and sunny here. And Charleston isn't one of those...

    Electric Expediter Vans

Nobody gives any thought to how you'd POWER these bad boys. Californians are all rushing to buy this stuff, but the amount of KwH electricity to charge up a car or van is pretty steep. And they're all going to want to charge these overnight -- putting a big strain on the grid. Exactly at the...

Raised roof & back door cargo vans?

I considered one of those "handicapper" type vans. But as stated earlier -- lots of windows and ultimately I was able to find a deal on a Transit that met the need. Those high-top V8 vans get crap mileage too. Big consideration for expediting. Only saw a couple of Chevys around with the...

    Pilot Flying J

As long as they don't screw with the shower program, couldn't care less who owns the facilities. Can't really jack prices as there's usually competition to Pilot reasonably close by.

    Those parking lot sweepers

Gray Court (Greenville), South Carolina. Took 2 hours to get through security and unload. Can you say "detention pay?"

Expediter Response and Experience With Hurricane Irma

Thanking my lucky stars I don't have a load headed south! I remember what the Wal-Mart parking lot was like in Louisiana after Katrina, 2006. It was a MESS. Broken beer bottles & garbage everywhere, sketchy types living out of their cars. Shelves were largely bare inside, with merchandise...

Cargo Van Time for a high top

Mid-roof Transit is working out for me. Of course, I haven't taken a "tall" load since I put the thing into service a month ago. :D
