A week ago an explosion and fire completely shut down the Meridian Lightweight Technologies facility in Easton Rapids, Michigan. They produce instrument panel components of the F-150. Now that Ford is out of those components, the plants in Dearborn, Louisville and Claycomo will be shut down. No time frame on how long.

Full story here:
Ford will halt all production of its popular F-150 pickups

Amazing that anything for a vehicle that popular is single sourced.

According to CNBC....Super Duty F series are also down...so that's the truck plant in Louisville too.

GM van plant in Wentzville also down, pickup part of the plant still up.

Ford has already pulled thier molds out of the rubble to be set up somewhere else. Meridian figures 4 months to rebuild that section of the plant. Many other vehicles affected but no other work stoppages yet (that I have read anyways)

I delivered to that Magnesium place a couple of times. They say there was a small fire, set off the sprinklers. Water reacts with Magnesium to release Hydrogen gas... last thing you need in a fire situation. Alloys of magnesium don't do this, obviously.
