    why is a CDL required?

Sorry, I guess my own eyes aren't what they used to be. I've never seen or even heard of grey eyes before (maybe it's an American thang? but actually, the first thing that comes to mind is more of a devil thing!) And it kinda looked like the G was an O.. and then followed by an R, and I couldn't...

It must be a fake! It says your eyes are orange but they are DEFINITELY blue in the photo!

Canada Coming into Canada Toward Month End?

Buncha thugs and rednecks. And some wonder why governments need to get involved and create laws to control us?

No need to make fun of those that need to wear orthotics. They didn't ask to be that way. (j/k :p )

    The traitor driver

Have you guys who are shocked at this squealing behavior ever worked in a factory or an office or probably any large company? This stuff goes on all the time, and the squealers don't even get rewarded with a meal! Apparently it's human nature and at least one carrier is cashing in on it. Big deal.

Didn't Post#4 get that added in after ATeam posted his post tho? Just sayin. Also, re the seatbelts, I'm with LDB too. If people can't have enough sense on their own, governments will make regulations for us. And even if one has the money to provide for their own long-term care afterward, it's...

If you cant make a good living!

There's a lot to be said for gravy! Mind you, I'd be pretty p*ssed if I couldn't count on my husband to bring in money to help with the household expenses. Can't have a guy spending all his time for break-even nada. Might as well stay home and make nada and at least do some work around the house...

If you cant make a good living!

There's an option for a newbie.... become a co-driver with a TT owner, make the $50K and leave the expenses to the owner while you learn the ropes.

    why is a CDL required?

Let me know if I'm mistaken, but I believe that having a CDL also allows the carrier to include the van drivers in their alcohol/drug testing program, and a medical form completed to a certain health standard. Someone that isn't required to have a CDL could perhaps slide by some of the medical...

If you cant make a good living!

Do you have a significant other who can cover those bills and allow your income to be the gravy?

Can you make a living as a single van driver?

Be sure you know what 'makes' means to the person saying how much a person 'makes'. The recruiter and/or carrier will not know what the OOs and/or drivers 'make' (end up with after expenses), since everyone's expenses are totally different. They will know some of them, the ones which they take...

    New survey/poll on carriers

Why would 'access to management' be an indicator of a carrier's perceived status for an O/O choosing a preferred carrier? How often would an average O/O need to have contact with management? To me, you are really saying, how special does the company make me feel by allowing me access to speak...

Can you make a living as a single van driver?

Me too...... but as far as I know, we're comparing (or the OP is/was) Walmart weekly wages to expediting earnings after expenses... so this would be Walmart gross wages before taxes (and not take-home pay), compared to expediting revenue less expenses (also before taxes).

Can you make a living as a single van driver?

Welcome to the world of expediting! Your expectations have already come down from clearing $65K/yr to $39K/yr in 2 short days! Now reduce it again to average out by number of weeks 'worked', as 'Chef' stated, so say about 45-48 weeks/yr x $750 and you're down to $33,750/yr. Keep working at it...

    The traitor driver

At first I thought this was pretty funny, and it made me think of that old post where 'expediters were going hungry.. for real', and thinking that it must have come to the point where some must be prostituting themselves for a free meal. After giving it some thought, and trying to view it from...

    Canada They have an agreement.

The way I see it is this. I had a house in year 1800. I died and my kids sold it for $1 when they needed the money. Two hundred years later my kids' kids' kids' kids' decided that my kids made a bad decision, got ripped off and sold it for too little. Now those great great great great great...

Less Than a Buck to laredo

And conversely, they are able to save caving in to drivers dickering to 'up the ante' when each driver individually was allowed so many minutes to make a decision. Couldn't possibly be in touch separately with all drivers who possibly could've taken the load, and then find out they gave away a...

    Canada They have an agreement.

Well thank goodness they're pleased. Wouldn't want to displease the red power in case they might make good on their threat to shut down major highways while dignitaries from around the world are in town. What else would they like today? And what will it be tomorrow?

Canada Coming into Canada Toward Month End?

It's high time the white man stopped giving in to their illegal strong-arming tactics. They're really getting out of hand and making a laughingstock of all levels of our government.
