Thinking About Going Back On The Road

It’s possible but not guaranteed. Sometimes you’ll make more, sometimes less. All depends on time of year freight and how often you go home. Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums

    app for truck routes

Copilot app on google or Apple. It’s 150. Have not tried truck version but use RV version with good results. Will need a phone with lots of memory as you download all the maps to the phone. Never have to worry about when you’re in no service areas

    Is this even feasibe?

We have talked to many other couples who have found smaller companies that allowed this. Have not heard of any of the bigger carriers doing this though Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums

    Question about Van refrigeration

Sorry read that part wrong. Sprinters are still some thing to be concerned with IMO. I wonder if the roof top would get cold enough? What’s the required temp? Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums

    the great ? which truck

Hinos are ok. Older trucks I would look for something with the cummins 8.3 with a Allison trans before 2007. (My favorite Diesel) preferably a kenworth t300 or peterbilt 330. Easy to get parts and work done and are rock solid platforms. Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums

    Question about Van refrigeration

Should probably have more concern with the van. Sprinters have proven to be some what problematic with emissions issues. For local type deliveries you want to look at a gasser like the ford transit. Sorry no tips for the refer part Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums

Did you leave a good paying job to get into this business?

We both left a 50k a year salary behind for expediting. Heather was an optician for over 20 years and I in the courier business for over 12. We never look back. The same repetitive job day in day out was killing our souls. Now we feel we are living life on our terms. Sent from my iPhone...

Can someone explain this pay scheme?

Not sure I understand the .12 and .14 there should only be the one fuel surcharge rate not both. Mover heard of a set cent per loaded mile. Usually it’s a 60/40% split (60 going to person paying fuel and 100% of fsc) fuel should cost around .15 cent per mile. But that is all miles. So keeping...

Need help deciding on Medium Duty Moving Van?

If you are not in California or don't go there I would look into a pre 03 and put some money into that. Much more reliable cheaper and easier to fix. IMO a kenworth or Pete with a cummins 8.3 Sent from my iPhone using EO Forums
