cargo van paid per mile or % of the load? your choice

I would go with a flat rate of $2/mile, but in the real world I would usually prefer a percentage. But there really is so much more to consider. It's like a rubic's cube shell game. Miss one crucial variable, and all the rest doesn't matter. eb

Thank goodness for evolution. Let the PIA die off and maybe something better will replace it. Like we keep saying, it's not what happens this week or next week, it's how things look at the end of the year. eb

    Led light problems

Yes, that is probably the case. Some LED manufacturers also sell the correct sized resistor to put in the circuit, so the computer senses everything as hunky-dorry...

Slowing down to save fuel and increase

I'm wondering if driving slow is the reason I go through less windshields than what others claim to go through. eb

Sprinters with ac units on roof

http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/members/ebsprintin-albums-vehicle.html I have photos of the setup in my photo album. The panels are raised about five inches with no wind deflector. I had thought about putting some airtabs in front of the panels to break up the air before it hit the...

Sprinters with ac units on roof

I used to have the idlebuster setup that included the ac and a generator unit. I permanently lost a minimum of 2 mpg. I have solar panels on the roof now, and they take almost one mpg. eb

    Michelin tires

Do they come with a warranty? Seems a bit pricey for an experiment. I like my M/S, and never tried the A/S, but they can't be a bad choice. My next set will probably be the M/S 2 (new with warranty). eb

    MPG sprinter info needed

For starters your best bet is to calculate the real mpg number by using miles driven and fuel put into the tank. There is too much fuzz in discussing range on a "full tank". That being said, for real rough estimates I use the rule of one eighth of a tank (one segment of the fuel gauge) equals...

    Sprinter Owners

My 2007 sprinter is a one owner vehicle that has only known expediting. I did take off one year to drive a different vehicle. Last week I passed 400,000 miles. Cargo van makes and models are all about trade offs. Where one is stealthy another is truckish. One sips the fuel, and the other is...

    Congratulations Jeanna!

I'm still here, John. I have a new computer that I haven't had a chance to set up for this mobile environment (I'm running so hard). I still try to peek in here to keep up on the happenings. The closest we've come to meeting was when we waved at each other the first time I drove into the yard...

    Commercial Vans Survey

Greg, Next time you talk to them please emphasize that it isn't a custom built vehicle that we're looking for. We are looking for a big empty shell that more than expediters will be happy to move into. ****** The survey was painless. My application was: over-the-road expedited freight...

Should I hang in there or move on to another Carrier

Make it your goal to stick it out with any carrier for at least one full year. In my book the only time you hightail it out of there before a year is if you encounter problems on the level of criminal. You started driving at the worst possible time of the year,so you can't judge the one...

HOW do big rig drivers do it?

On snow weight does matter. There is a reason why bobtailing is the most dangerous configuration of tractor trailers. A fully loaded semi can go places and at speeds that my sprinter couldn't attempt to try. On ice everyone is in the same boat, except that a heavy semi will get stuck farther...
