    How's it Going at Landstar?

I think part of the reason for that is the decentralized agent dispatch system is difficult to explain to people who are accustomed to centralized dispatch. It's not like FedEx where all loads come from dispatch at Green, Ohio. Put a group of FedEx Custom Critical drivers together and the...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

As I said above, I rarely share our financial results in public but given the amount of interest, I am making an exception this time. At least ten FedEx Custom Critical contractors have contacted me directly for this information and I know others are following my blog to see how it is going...

    Weather Alert-Hurricane/Tropical Storm

Having a vacation house on Florida's East Coast, 200 yards from the water and six feet above sea level, Diane and I are watching this storm with more than passing interest. However, a lot can happen between now and Thursday. Forecasts have already been revised that place the hurricane further...

    Expediter Services leaving E-1

A friend of a friend is one of those E-1 to FDCC drivers (husband/wife team). Through my friend I am learning of the details and experience. They were off the road when the change was announced and have yet to get to FedEx. They have other options but plan to give FedEx a try.

Driver dies in truck-bus crash on NY Thruway

That is the smart play. You never know what that people around the broken down vehicle will do, or what a stopped vehicle will do. I was once driving in the right lane on a freeway, spotted a big-rig tow truck parked alone on the shoulder, and moved into the left lane. Without a turn signal or...

    Expediter Services leaving E-1

Don't laugh too hard. The more technology you put in a truck, the less you have to rely on a driver to do and the less valuable the driver becomes. More technology means more commoditized drivers that can be lower paid and more easily replaced. FedEx is carrying this concept to its logical...

    Watch Out!!

Photos of that dust storm, also known as a haboob, can be seen here. That is just an amazing phenomonon. Layout, what did you and others do? If your schedule required you to drive in that dust, would you or, would it be better to protect your equipment by staying put? After the storm passes...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

I know you are busy but if you can find the time, I'd love to hear more about the differences you see. I believe a number of other readers would too.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

That is on purpose. The net would be the gross minus expenses. Enough information was provided for truck owners to figure that out on their own based on their monthly operating costs and cost per mile. Expenses vary a great deal from owner-operator to owner-operator. What some count as an...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

Sorry, usafk9, the show is over. My response above concludes this line of dialogue, at least from this side. In an hour, Diane and I will be in an RV park near San Diego. We have not have had a true break since February. We're out of service until Monday at least. Diane just got back into the...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

This is one of the most condescending posts I have seen on EO in a long time. I don't have to explain myself to you or any other BCO at Landstar. Until you came along, every BCO that I have met or communicated with online has been nothing but helpful and welcoming. You are altogether...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

I try not to wonder about the psychological implications of what other people do because it is not a productive activity. I spend a great deal of time observing and thinking about other people's deeds (not thoughts or mindset) because by doing that I can learn what works and what does not work...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

No one I have yet met at Landstar wears a uniform so what you say is true, "we are not uniform people here at landstar." Nevertheless, Diane and I are uniform people. We believe in them and what they do for us as we represent ourselves, the company and agents we serve. You have to wear...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

How's it Going at Landstar? That is a question Diane and I have been asked many times since we made the move in late June from FedEx Custom Critical (FDCC) to Landstar Express America (LEAM). I rarely share our financial results in public but given the amount of interest, I am making an...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

We have been all throught the company store web site, and even visited the company store at Jacksonville when we were there, and purchased some shirts that now function as our company uniform at pick ups and deliveries (Landstar has no official uniform but we like the professional look a uniform...

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

No. It simply made no sense to forfiet the space they took for no good reason. We had been running with Landstar for a month and had hardly seen a FedEx contractor in that time, let alone one parked nearby. We just got tired of toting the shirts around so into the trash they went.
