    Team Van or Straight Truck?

All too often you will be in a situation, while fully loaded, whereby you would both like to sleep comfortably at the same time. Unless you and your bro are siamese twins, you're not likely to be comfortable in the typical van sleeping configuration. It would take two very frugal people with...

Width between wheel wells, cargo van

Prof: I have 3/4 inch ply on the walls you mentio bout I routed out that portion at the wheel well to a thickness of 1/4 inch to get 51.5 inch tween walls. Have not yet had a prob with the 48 in skid, even with bags of overlapping stuff on them. Not an issue worth worrying about.

No forced dispatch, what that really means?

This is an FAQ at many driver gatherings, comparing forced dispatch perceptions or realities. It's the nature of this business that many of the loads offered the drivers are not finacially lucrative; therefore, drivers are tempted to refuse these loads in anticipation of an attractive load. In...

    Income?

I think you are well lower than average for 'any' van carrier. If my math is close, $12,000 per annum for fuel at $1.80 gal equals 6666 gallons burned. If you avg 14.7 mpg you'll travel about 98,000 miles to gross $40,000, you'll earn about 40 cents per mile. That's about 5 pre-tax cents...

    drivers liabilities

The standard in the expediting field is owner/operators are leased to carriers as independant contractors. It is therefore rare for the owner to take on a driver as anything other than a subcontractor. You are probably better off with this status so that you can maintain a flexibility of...
