    Leased on with multiple carriers

We knew about brokering loads to outside carriers. What confused us was the lack of markings on the truck. The expedite vans we had seen before had always been identified with a company name and had DOT numbers.

    Leased on with multiple carriers

I think I understand better now what happened once with a truck we cross-docked with at a FedEx facility back when we were with FedEx Custom Critical. The load was going into Canada but FedEx could find no one who was willing or able to go from the southern state in which the load picked up...

    Leased on with multiple carriers

In the event of a freight damage claim, against whom would the shipper make it? How would it be processed?

    Leased on with multiple carriers

I'd like to hear more about this too; not privately but publicly where the concept can be explained and discussed. I'm aware of the business model where an expediter gets his or her own authority (thereby becoming a carrier) and then contracts with larger carriers to bid on the larger...

Cargo Van pulled for DOT inspection.

Maybe the DOT officer you talked to has been watching Shipping Wars.

    Years in the business

It would be a mistake to equate years in the business with wisdom about the business. There are people who have been in expediting for a decade or more and they don't have a penny more to their name than they did when they started, and they have learned almost nothing along the way. But they...

Thompson Reuters News: Panther Expedited Services is for sale

Mention was made in another thread about a case that had been filed against Panther on behalf of one or more drivers (contractors). That post has since been removed under the code of conduct rules that govern this forum. It was the new forum member's one and only post. She is an employee of the...

Thompson Reuters News: Panther Expedited Services is for sale

Thank you, Turtle for a great report on the Con-Way NOW sale. Regarding today's news about Fenway and Panther being no surprise, speak for yourself. It was a surprise to me.

Thompson Reuters News: Panther Expedited Services is for sale

It could be good news too, could it not? If Panther is in play, pending litigation is something that would be looked at by any buyer. The desire to sell the company may increase the company's willingness to settle quickly to clear the books.

Thompson Reuters News: Panther Expedited Services is for sale

The Reuters piece is based on unnamed sources and we don't know who will buy Panther if anyone buys the company at all. Nevertheless, since talk about possible buyers has already begun, it might be instructive to review what happened when Conway decided to get out of the expedite business a few...

    Sprinter Owners

I wondering if Sprinter owners might give more direct answers to the original questions asked? Turritrans's question was clear and respectfully asked. I'm interested in the answer too.

    A Question for Express-1 Contractors

Stay tuned, E-OneDog. I think you will be very interested in what I have to report, just as I am very interested in what you have to report. I am working now on a story about Express-1; specifically, about what has changed and has not changed since Jacobs took over the company last year. If...

I want to set up the Expediters Hall of Fame the right way.

Allow me to throw out another thought. You just shared some history of expediting stuff that was very interesting to read. I have never heard of Bruce Simpson until you mentioned him above. I knew of Dan Schultz only because you mentioned him once before. That's the kind of stuff that gets...

I want to set up the Expediters Hall of Fame the right way.

EN used to feature driver profiles more frequently than it does now. Jeff Jensen (rest his soul) wrote a lot of them over the years. I have written very few, either because Lawrence asked me to write something else for whatever upcoming issue was in play or because I had volunteered a...

I'm aware of that, Bruno. I have looked at the EHOF site. Thanks for the link.

I want to set up the Expediters Hall of Fame the right way.

Point taken, John. So I'll state again the idea I closed with above. Start by establishing an expediter profiles web site or a journal or blog in which you profile selected expediters on an ongoing basis. You are going to have to produce that kind of content and photos anyway for a...

I want to set up the Expediters Hall of Fame the right way.

I know, Bruno, that the Expediters Hall of Fame has been a favorite project of yours for a long time. Ideas for your consideration are respectfully submitted below. Have you thought about simply proceeding on your own instead of trying to enroll people in a larger and more complex collaborative...

    I hate my headlights

Like you, Diane and I loved our headlights when we bought our truck new. We've never before had lighting that good. It was great. Over time the lenses yellowed until we had enough and replaced the headlamp assemblies. It was not cheap but was money well spent.
