Ontario, CA; FedEx Custom Critical and Other Carriers

Not being with that carrier, I'm not allowed (understandably) to post in the FedEx Custom Critical carrier forum. But I read something there (in the Waiting patiently in Ontario, Ca. thread) that I want to respond to so I am posting here. chuckon2 wrote: It's very frustrating sitting here at...

paying to park in front lot at Ta in Ontario,ca

Truck stops do not need an excuse to charge for parking. They own the property and have the right to charge whatever they want, front lot or back, for a stated reason (like to be fair to bobtail tractors) or for no stated reason. It is interesting to see truck stops across the contry with...

    80 cpm +fsc

When you are getting a flat rate per mile, it is helpful to have a reasonable estimate of the number of miles available. Is your perspective fleet owner able to tell you what that might be? Don't ask how many miles can I get if I work hard? Ask how many miles are the trucks in this owner's...

paying to park in front lot at Ta in Ontario,ca

There is nothing secure about the big back lot at the Ontario East TA. It's a zoo back there. We like the front lot because the truck is safer, the lot is cleaner, it is quiet and it is safer for Diane to walk inside after dark.

Diane and I were there today. It is true. TA East in Ontario, CA is starting to charge for parking in the front lot. See this post for more info.

    Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet for accounting

The OOIDA spreadhseet is often cited in the Open Forum as a resource. I took a look at it today and it seems to have been "improved." Here is the link to it. Check it out if you are interested. An image of the previous OOIDA cost per mile spreadsheet can be viewed here, along with the...

Ontario ca TA was a ghost town

Diane and I are there now (Ontario TA). It is business as usual with a number of expediter trucks in the front lot representing FedEx Custom Critical, Panther, Landstar, T&K, Blair and maybe one or two others.

    Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet for accounting

We can discuss that. It would all depend on people being willing to share their spreadsheets and commentaries as is in public. I have tried open groups before on EO and they have failed because there are people who can be reliably counted on to shoot down the good work and intent of others. That...

    Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet for accounting

The group is set up now. For those who have a spreadsheet to add to the mix and wish to participate, the next step is to send me a private message with your email address. When it is received, I will send you an invitation to join the Expediter Spreadsheet group. Your spreadsheet does not need...

    Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet for accounting

Since there are at least a couple people willing to share spreadsheets (I have one too), what would you think about working together to produce a one-truck owner-operator spreadsheet that can be freely shared with the EO community and general public on the uexpedite.com site? A while ago, I...

Mats 2012 - Report from Nick

I would very much enjoy more MATS reports like this one and those in Caffee's blog (and Marcu's once she starts posting about the show). Diane and I are not attending MATS this year but love hearing about it from others who are there.

    Something I can't fathom

Be careful about reading things into my blog post that are not there. I was not talking about spending nights or weekends at truck stops. I was talking about the joy I felt when we pulled into a fuel stop and saw sights I have not seen in a while. While we often avoid them when we are on the...

    Something I can't fathom

Different strokes for different folks. While Diane and I have a big sleeper and sometimes spend nights at truck stops, the creature comforts the sleeper provides enable us to be truck stop independent. Because of the sleeper, we do not have to rely on truck stops as many others do. We woke up...

How Many Expediters Retire With Money?

Yes. That's what I am primarily looking for. The info I seek is simply a best guess on a statistic. Of the retired expediters you know, how many of them -- what percentage -- are living on money they saved from their expedite earnings? No names needed. The percentage figure is what I seek. And...

How Many Expediters Retire With Money?

Perhaps I should have worded the original question differently. Let me try again. Based on your observations, what is your best guess? Of the retired expedieters you know and know about, what percentage of expediters retire with money (meaning that they made and kept enough money as expediters...

How Many Expediters Retire With Money?

Expediting is an old enough industry now to have people in it who made it a 20-year career. I know of a few still in the game who go back to the Robert's Express days. I'm wondering about those who have retired as expediters. I know none of those but presume there are some. Does anyone know of...
