    Proper etiquette for the Expediter

Security guard recently ran our C truck out of the front to the back lot.He only did this after a RV`er complained. They are doing their best to court the RV business, even though they buy little fuel and only use truck stops to avoid paying at the RV parks. If truck stop operators had any brains...

    Straight truck v. Tractor

Glen lets face the facts.A lot of the reason you could park just about anywhere was because of your beautiful show truck. We also have a "c"unit but get a lot of hostility from shopping centers, wall*Marts etc. When you look more like a RV it makes a difference.

    Load Securement

Glen`s remarks are right on the money. In addition when positioning a single skid,I have found it best to go around the skid with your first rachet strap and return it to the SAME wall. Then go around the skid starting from the other wall, and back to the same wall. This prevents any movement in any...

    FedEx Custom Critical

I can identify with your feelings about running a van.In the 80`s we were home a lot doing auto loads around the tri-state.Things are different now.Less auto business means you need to get out into the system to be sucessful. The new hours of service will help the solo driver.Lawrence was right...

western star c unit on free ads

George...Anyone that might be interested in your WS truck might want to convert it to a "D" unit this could be done fairly easilly. When I traded in my "C"International 4700 last year, the dealer stretched it and put on a 22,box. Dont blame you for wanting to get away from logs.I remember how the...

I cant speak to the durability of this truck, but have you checked with the carrier you intend to run for? Most expeditors have policys about how old a truck they will sign.

    About Shippers And Receivers

It's hard to generalize here bt I would say most of the loads are from med to small co in the suburbs. It also kinda depends on what kind of business the carrier goed after IE. Auto factorys, etc.

    Class C Trucks

"C" Loads are the #1 requested size. According to one recrutier. He said most "D" trucks carry 75% "C" loads. you would therfore think C trks would carry a lot of Bs,not so.We rarely get any B loads.Probably because there are so manny vans.

    Satellite Radio

Thanks Rich for reminding me about this.I had intended to write the FCC but with all the"Pre-Dispatching"Going on it plumb slipped my mind.Is it not intersting how much reg radio broadcasters have began to feel the threat of satelite. Now that the numbers are reaching the 2 million mark,no wonder...

    Class D Truck Question

The Expediting business started in Akron Oh serving mainly the Auto plants in the Oh,Mi,In,On area. It is for this reason the dealers most involved with setting up these trucks are in these states. You will probably save your self from a lot of mistakes by staying away from dealers who dont have...

    Van Requirements

Always Allways Secure Secure...I met a "D" truck driver recently who told of what happend to his first truck. He blamed the fork truck driver for not moving a 2000# skid to the front of his box.The skid was placed on the tail because the F/L was too high to go on the truck.Well this guy procedes...
