    Joining the Expediting Industry....

As a fleet owner myself, I find no excuse for any owner to hand over a filthy truck to a driver....let alone one that's empty or almost empty on fuel. To me, this shows an owner who not only could care less about his equipment, but also could care less about his drivers. It makes me wonder that...

    Insurance companies

Many insurance companies will let you take a driving test from a licensed truck driving school to verify that you can still drive. It's a pain and a small expense on your part, but at least you'll be able to get insurance from that company. Ask the insurance company if they have their own...

Thanks easyrider! We do usually try to do just that but it's so hard to get a "live" person on the phone nowadays.

    FL

We must be one of the lucky ones 'cuz we seem to get out of Florida really quick with a load during the week. We learned the hard way to never take a load any further south than Tampa unless we want to do all that deadheading, which obviously we don't. Personally I don't mind getting 'stuck'...

    STERLING TRUCK A/C UNIT

For those of you who have (or had) a Sterling Acterra truck with a mercedes engine, I was wondering if you had any problems with the A/C unit and if so, what were the problems and how did you get it cured without a requerence?

Welcome to the expediting world! I pay several of my drivers VIA flying j tab card and it works out well. The only downfall that we've experienced is that it can sometimes take 2 or more hours for the money to actually hit the card. Other than that, it works great. Good luck.

    Title in Limbo

Try contacting the state attorneys general for that state and explain the situation. They are usually great about helping in these kind of situations. You also could go thru the phone book (I know it's a pain) and call a lawyer or 2 and see what they tell you. Most lawyers will give you free...

    how do you stay awake?

My husband eats a can of spinach to stay awake. Might sound crazy but it works fantastic for him. It gives him lots of energy and keeps him wide awake for hours, plus it's healthy & good for you. Spinach also doesn't give you a caffeine headache or the jitters like coffee and other high caffeine...

    Unexpected Help in Odd Places

I'm glad to hear people say something good about us "naw yawkers" for a change!!! Not all of us are rude & crude. Like some of you said, there has been a change in attitude (for the most part) since 9/11. People seem to be alot more friendlier and helpful than they used to be. It's a shame that...

    Dieting in the truck

I've lost over 35 pounds since March by drinking green tea. I had heard years ago that you could lose weight by drinking it but I always thought it was a bunch of malarkey. I've tried many diets throughout the years and never had as much success as I am now. I don't drink the bottled stuff; I...

    HEY VIRGINA ? FEDEX C C!!

I, too, have watched Fed Ex dispatchers in action and it's true that the computer makes the decisions. I have C and D units. When we get offered or haul B loads, it's ALWAYS been because a van wasn't available, they turned down the load, the load wouldn't fit in the van (not weight wise) or had...

    GETTING OUT OF LAREDO

THANKS to everyone for your comments. On the rare times that my trucks have been to Laredo, they've never gotten a load back out. That's why I was questioning whether to have them stay or drop & run this time. Since they didn't get a load outta there (no big surprise to us), I sent them up to...

    GETTING OUT OF LAREDO

Thanks guys. I originally kinda thought that I'd have them just suck it up and go to Houston but was having second thoughts. Houston and Dallas have always been great areas to get out of, even on a weekend. I was just hoping that they'd get a load outta the Lareado area to help with the fuel...

    GETTING OUT OF LAREDO

Any of you recently take a load to Laredo and get a load back out? I have a truck there now and we're trying to decide whether to leave them there for a day or so, or to just bite the bullet and deadhead them up to Houston or Dallas. What do you all think? Our carrier hasn't been any help at...

    failed random drug test

We got into a situation last year where we hired a driver who had perviously failed a random drug test. Before hiring him,we asked him if he had ever failed one and he lied and said no. It took our carrier a little over a week after he was hired before they caught it. The driver got canned...
