We don't own the truck, or pay for fuel. But if it were up to us, we'd probably do that. We tried running 58-60 mph for a few months and the fuel mileage dropped to about 7mpg overall. So we bumped it up, I just looked, and last month we got an average of 7.6 mpg this month so far, 7.8 mpg

The WV turnpike is also getting better, they have been working on that section around Paint Creek that used to jar your fillings. BUT, that road can "wake you up" if you aren't paying attention! There is one curve that gets me every time. :eek:

Good to hear that Panther is working out well for you. As Leo likes to say "all companies have warts", but it sounds like you've found a place that fits you. We've been here 2 years (with a short break) and although we didn't like it at first, we are happy now.

All the companies out here are directional...if you'd like to go north they send you south....want east? you'll go west... The key is in the thinking...Never never have the thought that you want to go in a particular direction and you'll go exactly where you want to go :D

I have to add...KY roads are improving and I think that TN except around the major cities have pretty good roads.

I think it would be easier to list the roads that are in fairly good shape. Thinking.....thinking...hmmmm :cool:

We've been tracking fuel mileage in this truck very closely for the last year. We have discovered that our best mileage comes when we run 63-65 on open highway. The tach is right at 1400 at that speed. When there any hills, if we run slower than that our fuel mileage drops. If we slow down to...

I just wish we could shoot "suction idiot darts" when a car accumulates 3 darts, they aren't allowed to drive anymore :D

Morningstar, we've only been to Maine once this year, and DHed back down to Portsmouth, NH. Also, we've only had 2 loads come out of NH this year. Gov load out of Nashua, and general load out of Londonderry.

Gotta go, I've also wondered if placing them on the hood would help or if it would direct more bugs to the windshield? I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it.

First off...Broker, I apologize for derailing your thread just a little. :o You said it better than I Linda, that was kinda what I was getting at. Many times expediters are looked down upon by the T/T side as if we are NOT truck drivers and we definitely are. I do agree that the business...

I'm confused, Expediters are not truckers? Then what am I? I am driving a truck, I haul freight for a living, I live in a box for weeks at a time etc. but I'm not a trucker?

I always try to maintain a distance between me and the vehicle in front of me. I'm terrified that I might run over a car if the conditions warrant a quick brake. What upsets me is when I have my cushion, and 3 cars decide to fill that space as the traffic slows!! More than once, I've watched...

We also run with Airtabs. Our fuel mileage has increased, although I'm not sure if that's a fluke or from the Airtabs. The best part of the Airtabs is clearer vision to the rear, the back doors are cleaner, and we don't get shaken by the wind like before.

Does anyone else have trouble with scanning carbon copies? Even with darkening the copy, the carbon still comes out way too light most times
