    Stolen ID?

I use the Flying J Frequent Fueler card at the 4 wheeler pump card reader and indicate "pay inside" when prompted. This procedure has allowed me to use the Visa card for more than the allowable $50.

    Dispatch Favoritism

Mea culpa, mea culpa. I agree with the witty Turtle; my use of the adjective virtual in my post was not the best choice. I should have said "in essence" vice "virtual". The dog in the mirror must have eaten my english class homework that day.

    Dispatch Favoritism

David It may be realistic for each of you leased to your carrier to admit that dispatch favoritism occurs there on a regular basis; I do not believe it is realistic to make that same assumption at my carrier for the reasons I stated. Thinking so does not make it so and the many recent...

    Dispatch Favoritism

Dispatch favoritism will always be a topic of discussion as long as there are humans involved in the truck dispatch process. It is known by drivers and by management to have occurred at FedEx Custom Critical in the past. Does favoritism still exist? Many who did not or will not get a run offer...

    Aerocell DRW Owners

I had three fiberglass roofs on Ford/Chevys, each of which was 1" of honeycomb sandwiched between two layers of fiberglass. We never had a signal strength problem. Another option to consider is a FANtastik vent. I cut a circular hole in my current roof that was slightly larger than the...

    Looking for a Company

MGK Expediting has no hubs, warehouses, terminals or yards. There are very few dedicated loads with expediting and the miles available to a solo T/T driver are limited by the HOS regulations. Atlanta is a relatively busy area for many of the expedite carriers. I suspect that FedEx Custom...

    Copies of CDL

Driver license information is usually a public record so giving a photocopy to a customer is but one way that personal info is subject to exposure. One way to cut down on public personal info on a CDL is to ask the motor vevicle folks to substitute your SS number with a random number. MO and...

    Self Imposed Deadhead

60/40 or 40/60. Owner pays for DH fuel or Driver pays for DH fuel. There are advantages for each, either way you go. The important thing is to have a written arrangement between the owner and the driver so that there will never be a controversy over the fuel bill.

    inflation adjusted

I agree, Leo. We can use historical data to help us to simplistically forecast the future needs for our business. By using recent inflation figures from 2000 to 2007, we can speculate the amount of money we'll need in 2014 to replace our truck we purchased this year. For example, a $100,000...

My first "B" load in 1989 paid 99 cents. That would be $1.71 in 2007 dollars

    Gas Sprinter

Rob, I don't recall the source, but I have read that the Sprinter gas engine requires a higher octane than regular. I don't know the MPG but the 30 cents or so per gallon may offset any advertised savings.

    Question for FECC CV's

Minimum pay for a cargo van is $51.04. We generally only see this on dry runs or very short loads. The pay for a <75 varies greatly by customer. We've received in excess of $300 for a <75 but the norm is in the $150 range.

    Fuel Mileage in Cargo Vans

PorkChop, you asked about fuel mileage in a cargo van and mentioned that the van would be paid for so you "can make money with it" because of that. You would best be advised to step back and look at your desires as an attempt at operating a business and not just a job driving a van. One of your...

    FECC Rates

Skittles: I'll address your last comment first because it is an issue that begs clarification. You are correct in stating that Rene' and I have participated in the FedEx Custom Critical Contractor Council. Our participation has greatly benefited our understanding of the carrier's management...

    Honest Opinion Please

You're already acclimated to living on a short dollar, so sharing the truck revenues shouldn't be too hard on you if you can keep your living expenses down while you learn this business. Whether or not you will be working for a friend, family member or acquaintence, you MUST have a written...

    FECC New DIspatch System

Lighten up Easytrader. You have promoted a pay scheme with which a few of us disagree. You shared your opinion and we shared ours without denigrating you or your opinion. If that makes us cool-aid drinkers then make mine strawberry.

    Flat Rate Pay Plan

Easytrader, thanks for the response. I am not a fan of any of the flat rate systems, which I have seen, as compared with FedEx Custom Critical’s current percentage based system. We have been on percentage since we started expediting 19 years ago and have watched dozens of carriers enter the...
