I was wondering if some O/O of cargo vans for FECC would be willing to tell me what you get paid for a mini or less then 75 as you refer to it. and do they pay more in different areas like chicago?

Thanks in advance.

Minimum pay for a cargo van is $51.04. We generally only see this on dry runs or very short loads. The pay for a <75 varies greatly by customer. We've received in excess of $300 for a <75 but the norm is in the $150 range.

Thanks Terry, I was just wondering because I was talking to a driver from FECC last week and he was telling me that he usually got 200-225 for a 75 or less load and mentioned he did several in chicago. That has been one of my biggest beefs with panther where I think they should pay more for the mini loads and get rid of this first out B.S. He stated panther bids the same price but just keeps most of the money which I have no doubt that they do.

Even if they just paid 100.00 for a mini with no first out involved they would have no problem covering these loads. I know it wouldn't be a problem for me anyway.

Thanks again for an honest answer.

Thats why its better to get a percentage of the run then a flat rate. That is one of the reason's we don't have any trucks on with Panther right now. It's not that they are a bad company, it because the way they have things set up. A small load at FedEx that is 60 miles may pay 200 plus dollars in a C or D unit that would pay a Panther driver $81.00 based on $1.35 per mile.
