Marlin Perkins: While Jim wrestles with that mountain lion/alligator/other dangerous animal, I would like to remind you of the importance of being properly insured. Mutual Of Omaha has policies specifically designed to compensate you for the loss of a youngin due to animal ingestion.

If it is an inhalation hazard, yes. The cargo area must be more than completely sealed. The cargo area must be a separate unit, like a box and a cab. A van with a bulkhead, no matter how well sealed doesn't cut it.

Truckers Continue Protesting for Better Pay

I agree if it is a unified strike, with a few objectives by a union or other labor organization and/or endorsed, supported by other unions or labor organizations. Owner/Operators/Independents going on strike may start out with rates as a major point of contention. All too soon it escalates to...

Panther has plenty of money but their balance sheet is a bit light under the ethics and intelligence columns.

I reread section 395 and found no mention of Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. I did see some references to home terminal though. Maybe that's what got you started on the Home Depot thing, deviating from cargo vans, HazMat and logging. Earlier in this thread you stated: "If you haven't operated...

When I was with Con-Way Now I used this handy, dandy Hours Of Service Certificate, graciously provided free of charge by them. I also used this very same HOS Certificate when employed by Con-Way Central Express. Prior to the existence of any Con-Way companies, Consolidated Freightways used...

I was an expediter again for two days!

Obviously jumping into a van was way too much, too soon. Why not start over taking baby steps? You could go back to dispatching part time. Maybe you could find a small carrier in need of someone to take phone calls and do limited dispatching on weekends. With today's technology you can work...

    Parlez-vous Felinese?

Tuesday afternoon I picked up a load in Missouri going to just south of Macon, GA. 821 miles loaded. The pick up time was 16:00 and the delivery time was 10:00. 18 hour, which equates to a hair over 45 mph. Pretty much an industry standard. With Panther's 16 hour "safety policy" a Panther...

What happened to all the swaps

Ooh, ooh activity in the Panther Forum! My experience with the trend toward less load swapping is because of more loads coming from load boards and 3 PLs. The actual delivery time is later than the delivery time of Panther's calculated 45 mph and sends it to the driver. Of course the driver...

Orlando Terrorist Attack: 50 Dead, 53 Injured

Omar Mateen was an armed security guard with proper training. I don't believe it has been made public whether he was drinking or not the night of his murderous rampage. Too bad Omar wasn't employed by the club and on duty that night. He could have shot the attacker before he killed any...

    World's largest railroad yard

I don't recall crossing any tracks to get to the North Platte diesel shop, it's located right off the street. My problem was trying to get to that street from the bridge.

    World's largest railroad yard

I delivered there once. I remember it being a pain in the ass trying to get to the locomotive shop. I crossed the yard on the Buffalo Bill Expressway and ended up driving through a maze of manufactured houses trying to get back toward the rail yard. The Kansas City yard off I-635 is also...

    Average pay per mile

It really doesn't matter what anyone thinks. If it works for you, that's all that matters. Your first load paid $1.10 all miles. Your second load paid about .86/loaded mile. You need to look at a larger time frame rather than one week. Are you still in California? Did you run it in 41 hours?

Not much sticks to Hillary. If something does stick she has the services of SwervPro; Like it never even happened. When she's elected president she will become the new "Teflon President" making Reagan look as if he were made of Velcro.
