    Nations Express - Shaking Ground?

True, but it is the insurance carrier's responsibility to file the proper form with FMCSA. The carrier has nothing to do with updating Safer with the new info.

    Nations Express - Shaking Ground?

That would be my assumption as well. Most of the companies that have a large carrier presence as well as brokerage presence generally incorporate them separately. They have separate numbers and separate accounts. I know of one broker we've dealt with out of Indy that has a clause in their...

    Nations Express - Shaking Ground?

Jeff, what do you mean by " they indeed are liquid" It means that they're NOT broke. They've had a reputation for slow pay that long preceeds this current economic slowdown.

    Nations Express - Shaking Ground?

Hey McClain. Look up MC338387. Nations has their broker authority under a different MC than their carrier authority. Not uncommon. As far as getting paid, call corporate and ask to speak to a guy named Danny McPherson. He's VP of business development. We only got paid after calling them...

    Extra Charges

Hey Ann. If you are running your truck, you should get paid for hand load. If you're not sure, I'd make sure it was in the contract.

    advice sought on expediting

If you're in a job making 50K, why would you make a risk in such an uncertain time? Are you in a field with any connection to freight?

    Question about express one

It sure is. But most carriers broker SOME loads in order to feed their trucks in all areas. It's a "you scratch my back and I scratch yours" thing. It's part need, and part cooperation.

Am I the only one who thinks this is bull crap

.....and yes I agree that that is quite bogus to cut a percentage. He can't just change it though if it isn't in a contract.

    Two Questions (Could be controversial)

I must agree with Cheri. No one makes you buy into those promises. You choose to believe who you want to believe. If you only get the hype, then you'll wonder why isn't isn't going so well. So here's the deal about the original question. Congratulations. You are now self-employed. This is...

    Two Questions (Could be controversial)

I think someone needs to go back to work at McDonald's, or maybe for the UAW. Here's the answer you asked for: 1. Yes there is a place for compensation.....if you're an employee, OR your lease agreement states that you are entitled to something. Otherwise, you are a small business owner...

The thread that can't be hijacked

Not only can my company offer you holidays at home, but as long as you are available at least two of the five business days of the week, we can get you home by Friday night or Saturday noon at the latest. Everyone knows that freight only moves between 8 and 5 on the weekdays.

    Question about express one

Wingnut, Most of these carriers can't even uphold their contract rate with the owner ops right now, much less give a few pennies surcharge. At this point, how many miles people are getting is pretty irrelevant. Ya might get make $1040 that week for 800 miles, or your might make $1040 for 1020...

Am I the only one who thinks this is bull crap

That's exactly why, as a small 1 truck carrier, I took myself out of much of that "expedite overflow" loop. So many of those industries and customers have been so canabalized that there is nothing left. Yeah, I still partner with some of them, but I've found a green field for myself at home.

    Would you take this run??

Yeah, I'm not sure I've seen or heard any armchair quarterbacks. The thread was started by a request for input from forum members. Even among small carriers and fleet owners in this thread, everyone I know of drives a truck or at least has driven a truck.

    How picky are vans?

Hey Charles. The word is out. The problem is, you're gonna have a whole bunch of cargo van operators knocking on your door for a lease agreement now. I just can't figure out how and why that guy has been with you for a month, been offered at least six decent paying loads (especially out of...

    How picky are vans?

Seriously, is it really that much harder to get a load out of Florida than anywhere else these days?

    How picky are vans?

I can see that, but ATL is just as bad these days because all of the FL deadheaders go there. I would have probably taken the load, and deadheaded up I-95 instead. I would've gotten me out of ATL for sure.
