How picky are vans?

Anything could happen, But I've never brought a load out Florida, Then again I've never been with a Big Carrier always small Mom & Pops companys. so thats my story and I'm sticking to it!!

I don't want to say anything because the next time i go to Fla. I'll get stuck, but i have never sat more than 9 hours in Fla without a run,with the exception of the time we had to go OOS for repairs.

wow, to say no and make carier juggle load with shipper, that is sad.
Scenario, naked wife waiting on couch, out 3 weeks, and out of service heading home. 300 miles to go. phone rings, dispatch has a recovery cause some dude said they would and then decided not too. have time to get to shipper on time, and make it to delivery on time for next morning am delivery. will throw me late getting home by 13 hours. so i tell the dispatcher that i must call my wife. and see what she thinks. we talk about it for a few minuets, and she agrees. I do the recovery, and dispatch is pleased, then i take advance agreed upon for doing said recovery (which i think came from other drivers escrow) and take my wife to a nice hotel with a hot tub, and room service. I love my job!!!

CORRECTION: Wife just reminded me that we had just picked up the load on Friday for a Monday delivery in Texas when we had to get that starter pulley replaced. so i have never sat in Fla. over 9 hours without a load.

Hey Charles. The word is out. The problem is, you're gonna have a whole bunch of cargo van operators knocking on your door for a lease agreement now.
I just can't figure out how and why that guy has been with you for a month, been offered at least six decent paying loads (especially out of Atlanta), with zero acceptance.

I'm not too worried about that right now. I think most people are smart enough to know that I can't offer that rate on every van load. Getting a high bid like that for a van load in the south these days is as much luck as anything else.

We were a "Ma & Pa, an ALWAYS got out of Florida with good paying freight. Granted, it wuz sometimes after a little "beach time", but none the less, did well running Florida.
Had your second scenario happen to me a number of times with different people. It's really tuff when you spend many hours trying to help some clown make a living, and have them "do" you like that. Not to mention the hit your "brand" name takes.
My stock reply to them wuz always "OK then, whenever you decide to leave that area and go home, DO IT. An when you git there jes scrape my flags of yer truck, an mail em back with my permits etc".
As a Carrier you really have to have zero tolerance for that type of thing.
