    Cargo Van Controversial idea?

As we know, a certain group of expediters have a reputation for running cheap, and the thought occurs to me: do the individual drivers realize how poorly they're being paid? And is there anything they can do about it? Or are they being kept silent by their bosses? Something to think about, maybe?

    sold my sprinter van

Your friend was dumb to buy a brand new truck for this market. All you need is a good used rig that isn't worn out.

Dually GMC cubes went from 10k in 2007 to 12,300 in 2008. I still think there's too much truck there to make a decent profit running at a legit under 10k; even when you take out that heavy ramp, you're still looking at close to 7000 lbs. Add driver and gear, that's another 250+. Westmicher's rig...

    sold my sprinter van

Got a really good price on my '99 Dodge Ram Wagon back in 2003. PA didn't think I paid enough either. I took the bill of sale to the office in Harrisburg; they saw I was telling the truth and accepted the tax they'd already collected at registration. I wonder if this happens frequently when you...

"Retooling" is the annual plant shutdown that allows the carmakers to change body dies, etc for the new model year. Not as big a project nowadays as it was in earlier years; in the Sixties cars changed fairly drastically every other year. Especially since it occurs in midsummer, it's become a de...

Too old and short. As for color, IDC what color a van is, as long as it puts green in the pocket. Who was it that posted the school bus/freight box combo the other day? That rig actually makes sense....

That's it in a nutshell. Money talks, bullsh*t walks. Can Westy keep up his track record of sound truck building? We shall see. He does have a tremendous advantage, tho, of having Load One behind him. Could someone like me, running for a smaller company, do the same? I don't know, and I don't...

Cargo Van Thinking about getting into Sprinter

If you don't mind sitting, waiting for cheap loads, then by all means, buy a van. If you know beans about the industry, you know better. The big money in this biz is in bigger trucks. Tractor or straight, that's up to you.
