    C & M Good? Bad?

Does it really matter? If he let's go of the phone, he can't take a call on a job. If he let's go of his car, he can't go to the interview. He obviously made the wise choice in order to be able to take this position. Best of luck to him. He will be up in no time.

Bill, Yeras ago when I lived in California, I helped out with a food ministry. Being based in a place like Irvine, one of the things that we were instructed on was not to turn away what they termed as "up and outers." These were the people who showed up driving a BMW or Mercedes, but were in...

Most trailer repair shops can sell you a 10' piece as cheap as a 2 ft piece from Northern Tool. They can also do the work for you if you want. Just Google up "Trailer repair" and your city.

If I'm not mistaken, they certainly aren't an oddity. There are others who do it that way as well. Certainly not for the faint of heart. Sure puts the "I" in the "IC" status.

    C & M Good? Bad?

C & M have good people in their office. When we deal carrier to carrier, there are many companies where we like working with some people and try to avoid others. I can't think of anyone at C & M that would cause us to do that.

    Can't get a medical card

If you have your own authority, why fool with leasing to a carrier and all of their(our) rules? The question is, if you had to do your eye exam for a license renewal at the DMV today, could you pass? If you can't, you really don't belong in a driving job of any sort. Not trying to be mean.

    $1.40 per mile?

Having been a leased owner operator myself when I began, it strikes me kind of funny and sad as well that there are those who are always CONVINCED that the carrier is screwing them at every turn, and that the carrier has no right to the profit that they do make. The funny thing is that many of...

    $1.40 per mile?

Well, the cube vans generally block off a few feet for a bunk and leave 12 feet and maybe an extra inch for freight. As far as the Alliance freight goes, it is generally accepted to be EUV loads, but I guess it could be determined on a case by case basis. Usually those loads are already 3rd...

    $1.40 per mile?

Well, we normally wouldn't be offering our large straights at 1.40 all in, especially when diesel was still above 4 bucks. I assumed that your post was in reference to Phil's post about 1.40 on his truck. That was offered to a 12 footer.
